This book is gold. Simple, concise, clear- it does exactly what it's meant to. I can see why it's regarded so highly, and I regard it highly now as well. It's an easy read, but that doesn't mean it's lacking in content; the second I finished it I wanted to pick it up and read it again. I was going to lend it to a friend because books are better off being read instead of sitting on shelves, but I realized that there was still more for me to get out of it.
The only thing I would change- and most likely will in the future- would be to take out some of the context and examples that were put in to make it more palatable for beginners. It has its place, but I'm so interested in the main dish of the content that I'd be okay with disregarding the sides. Will probably write up a cliff notes version of the book for personal use at some point in the future.
I do recommend it, I do have this on my bookshelf, and I will most definitely read it again.

Another amazing book! I thoroughly enjoyed how the author presented various tools that can benefit anyone's writing, regardless of their current skill level. I'm excited about reading it once again !!
This guy has some interesting ideas and some very useful tips
I'm sure it's fine if your only goal is to sell a mediocre, formulaic and commercially driven script to a major studio. Doesn't offer a great deal of inspiration for creative exploration.
It also feels very outdated with the rise of the streaming services and how much they've changed the notion of what the "theatre-going public" expect from modern storytelling.

More than a little outdated, and at many points, misogynistic.
Rather than a book about good screenwriting, it’s a book on how to write high concept screenplays that might sell because they’re broadly appealing…useful to a degree, but not everyone’s goal.
