Audio Book Review
Wow I loved this book. Afloura's world got rocked with one bite. She got thrown into the Midnight Fae's world head first with no floaties. She is an Elemental Fae with secrets in her past unbeknownst to her. Midnight Fae are most compared to Vampires. This book is steamy and fast paced. A lot happens to Afloura in this book. I can't wait for book two. The narration was incredible multi cast in duet style.

Great read
Woe, what a read that s book was. So much turmoil and confusion it's no wonder Aflora harbours such hate for the male fae. But when hate turns to passion, then things get really interesting!

I needed this series, after becoming completely addicted to [b:Elemental Fae Academy: The Complete Trilogy|50668942|Elemental Fae Academy The Complete Trilogy|Lexi C. Foss|https://i.gr-assets.com/images/S/compressed.photo.goodreads.com/books/1580091676l/50668942._SY75_.jpg|75687462] and apparently landing in a never-ending book hangover. We did meet Aflora in the EFA trilogy and there are more tie-ins throughout, so you may want to read this first. (Cover & link to book 1 are below).
The writing is impressive, and the world is one I wouldn’t mind visiting; though it’s a bit dark at times, it’s more intriguing. Aflora is a brilliantly designed character who I instantly loved and continuity from meeting her in her own world, that of the elemental fae is on point.
Also: even though I basically did accurately guess how this book turned out, there was a little twist I hadn’t expected. I’m always super impressed by any little detail that I don’t manage to predict because it’s super rate.
Character development and the interpersonal relations are highly advanced. I got really into the various connections and enjoyed some really sweet moments between, not just Aflora and the respective men, but the men themselves. Brilliant writing.
Ends on a cliffhanger, but book 2 is out now, so no worries.
Note:
I both read the ebook and listened to the audiobook.
Audiobook remarks: There are multiple narrators, all with smooth, easy-to-listen-to voices and clear enunciation. The team definitely adds to the reading experience. Well done!
Also: Great continuity. Ella’s appearance in this one sounded the same (if it’s not the same, it’s def close enough) as she did in [b:Ella's Masquerade|50397222|Ella's Masquerade (Midnight Fae Academy ##0.5)|Lexi C. Ebook remarks: Absolutely stunning. One of the prettiest book interiors I’ve ever seen. And editing is well done, content is free of distracting errors.
Therefore:
Ebook: 5 stars
Audiobook: 5 stars
Narrators’ performances: 5 stars to everyone.

The world-building alone warrants ALL the stars. 10 out of 5. This world is much like a drug; I’m addicted and will never get enough.

I can't decide if I really like this or not. The premise is unique enough to keep my attention. I don't think Shade is guilty, despite the ending. I'm super interested in the Kols + Zeph aspect. Aflora will be a good addition to that, I think.
Right now, the dynamics are weird. Kols + Zeph are a good match. Kols + Zeph + Aflora are a good match. Shade + Aflora are a decent match. But I can't tell you ANYTHING about the dynamics between Shade and Kols + Zeph. So far, there's minimal interaction between the three. So I can't decide.
Despite being in an academy, there's not much in the way of classes. This book is basically them saying she's an abomination. Her claiming she deserves death. Then saying they'd protect her from the council they're a part of. Lots of repetition there, but it is only the first book. So maybe some more action comes in for book 2.
