The Irish Getaway by Siobhan Davis is book 3.5 of the Kennedy Boys series and it ideally should be read after the first three books of the series; Finding Kyler, Losing Kyler and Keeping Kyler.
Yet again, Siobhan has created another addictive story that had me experiencing so many emotions as I read about Faye, Kyler and their families growing closer and showing their love for each other. The Irish Getaway was brilliant and I loved it from start to finish. Plenty of ‘Kennedy drama’ and laugh out loud moments. Throw into the mix moments that have you smiling, wanting to turn on the fan to cool down or trying to hold back the tears, and you have the perfect combination for a story that will remain with you for days after. There wasn’t one thing that I didn’t love about this book and I’m so glad that Siobhan has written it. Thank you, Siobhan!
You can see that Faye and Kyler have grown as a couple and that their relationship is going from strength to strength. I think it was important for the couple to take this journey and having their families join them made it even more special. Faye gets to spend time with the new people in her life and this is a great gift for her after everything she’s gone through. The descriptions of Ireland that Siobhan uses are so visual and it felt like I was there. Despite living the UK, I’ve not yet visited Ireland but I want to even more now and when I do finally visit, I’ll hopefully get to see some of the amazing places Siobhan describes. I loved seeing Faye back on her ‘home turf’ and with her two best friends who she’s clearly still very close to even though she now has a life in the US. All of Kyler’s brothers join him in Ireland and Siobhan shows perfectly what each of their roles are within the family. All the brothers are special and the women they’ll eventually fall in love with are very lucky.

This was an entertaining read. I'm glad we got to get caught up on the Kennedy clan.
1. Faye and Ky are still annoyingly cute together. Their relationship continues to grow. The love that they have for each other continues to bloom. They have more than just a relationship, they have a partnership.
2. Kaden and Keven. Tensions ran high with these two. They butted heads throughout the last half of the book. And it broke my heart. Throughout the first three books, these two were seen as a formidable force. They were a packaged deal in a sense. But secrets threaten to pull them apart.
3. Kent. Idk what is up with him. He's the MOST out of control of the group. I'm hoping we get a book on him, because I'm 100% intrigued by what goes on with him.
4. Keanu. We saw a bit into his life. Him and Selena have an interesting relationship and theirs is one that I want to get into.
5. Kal. He's grown the most. I love how honorable he is to his family. Throughout the first three books, and this one I've seen the most growth in his character development.
6. Keaton. He's a shy one, but also the most loyal and level headed. He is protective and loyal to his girlfriend and I find that adorable. I'm wanting more on him too.
7. Alex and James have had their fair share of drama. They're not divorced yet, but they are separated. They continue to co-parent the kids seamlessly. The kids are hoping for a reunion between them and if I'm being honest, I am too.
This story had a bit of everyone in it. It went into each of the characters that I have no doubt, Siobhan will write about.

The Kennedy's summer vacation! And I LOVE books set in Ireland!! Great book and a must read! I read this advanced copy for an honest review!
Kyler and Faye :-) My favorite Kennedy Boy and his girl. They were the stars of this novella, so how could I not love it?!
The Kennedys are going to Ireland! Ky and Faye spend three weeks there on their own, and then the rest of the family joins them after that. Those first three weeks are a blissful, contented time for them. They make their own memories in Faye's home, which help her in dealing with the many memories that haunt her as she misses her parents. I LOVED when she brought Ky to her parents graves. He introduced himself to them, giving a very touching speech and ending it with “I will love her, protect her, and support her for the rest of my days. I give you my solemn promise.” It was so beautiful and so romantic!! Kyler is such a romantic guy! Who would have thought that when I first started this series with Finding Kyler, he would turn out to be a romantic?! “I will always be here for you. No matter what. My world would cease to exist if you weren’t in it, and that’s not something I’ll ever consider. I’m going to propose to you one day, Faye.” I kiss the back of her hand. “I want marriage, kids, everything, with you.” *sigh*
Anyway, I know this isn't ONLY about Ky and Faye!! So, now they go to the airport to meet the family. "Alex is leading the posse as they step out through the sliding doors, and, honestly, it’s like watching a trailer for the latest hot boys’ movie. A quiet hush settles over the place as my cousins saunter toward the exit like bona fide movie stars." The Kennedy Boys are in Ireland!!!!
Well, as you can imagine, the first thing the boys do is go to a party! In fact, they go to a number of parties. And these Kennedy Boys really like to stir up a lot of trouble! Kennedy Boys gone wild!! That's all I'm gonna say!! Oh, and Faye is definitely related...she's quite a spitfire herself!!!
This book is packed full of Kennedy adventures that you won't want to miss!!

Siobhan Davis takes us on a vacation to Ireland with this Novella. You still get all the good stuff like drama, excitement, sexy times and interesting character interactions.
Faye and Ky end up going prior before everyone else so Faye can settle some things, than the rest of the family comes to join them.
You just keep on wanting to turn the page, every word grabs your attention.

I’ve been excited about The Irish Getaway from the moment Siobhan Davis mentioned a Kennedy Boys short story. Reading Loving Kalvin merely increased my desire to read this short story, the titbits offered leaving me super excited to find out more of the specific details. I hate to say it, but whilst I enjoyed this, it wasn’t quite all I had hoped it would be.
I have a very complicated relationship with short stories. I hate more than I love. With the Saven series, Siobhan Davis convinced me her short stories are more than worth the read. In fact, I’m impatiently awaiting the rest of those short stories. Due to this, I had high hopes for The Irish Getaway with Siobhan Davis being one of the few authors whose short stories I look forward to reading.
Truthfully, this is more of a three-point-five star read than a three star read. I did my usual debate of whether I was to round up or down, yet I’ve been in one of those weird reading moods lately where very little seems to be pleasing me in the way I hope. I’m still enjoying books, but I’m waiting on that one book that will blow my mind. I’d been hoping The Irish Getaway would be that book, and because it wasn’t I believe that is why I opted to round down. I know many fans of the series will give it a higher rating… but yeah, weird reading mood right about now.
The Irish Getaway brings Faye’s story full circle in a wonderful manner. We’re back where everything started, returning to Ireland to be giving one final tale from the perspectives of Faye and Kyler. As with the other Kennedy Boys books, this one was filled with drama and mischief. With all of the boys on vacation, things quickly get out of hand. Fun, fisticuffs, and the other ‘f’ word you can easily fill in without me saying.
I feel as though this story gave us a nice insight into many of the future Kennedy Boys books. We get to see glimpses of things that promise to blow our minds in later books. In fact, I think my preferred release order for the future books has changed. I’m even more excited for certain stories now that I’ve been giving a little bit more about some of the boys. These little tasters do plenty to build up an appetite yet nothing at all is solid – things are very much open, and there’s no telling what Siobhan Davis will bring us.
Whilst this story did give us lots of little things, I feel as though it never quite reached the one big bang that we were given with the main books in the series. It was lots of little explosions, and whilst they were lots of fun, they never really reached the intensity of the one big bang I’ve come to love in the other books. It pulled everything together well, we had some nice moments, but it didn’t quite move me in the same way the main books in the series have.
Overall, it was an enjoyable quick read. In addition to the little something more added by the short story, we are also given some bonus scenes to go with the Kyler books. Without a doubt, it is worth picking up if you’re a fan of the Kennedy Boys.
Honestly, I think it’s just my current reading mood that left me feeling a bit out of touch with this one. It was fun; I just wanted something to truly blow my mind.
Bring on Saving Brad (I’m more hyped for it now after the snippets of drama we get to see in this).

I really love the Kennedy boys series and this novella was no exception. It was great to go back to the original couple and see them interacting and in Ireland no less! And to make it even more great, eventually the rest of the Kennedys join in and we even get to see Adam and Whitney again.
The family dynamic is so interesting to me. This many boys in one family, and how different their personalities are even though they were all raised in the same household. I like how we got little hints and teasers as to what each of the brothers own stories might be about. This novella made me more anxious for some of the boys' books that I wasn't really thinking about before.
The other thing I really enjoyed, was the alternate POV scenes at the end of the book. We get a peek into what other characters were thinking and doing during pivotal scenes in the first few books. I love when authors give us that taste into the mind of someone else!
If you have enjoyed the Kennedy Boys books so far, you're going to love this novella. If you haven't read any of the other books yet, I highly recommend them and suggest you read at least the first three books before reading this novella.
I voluntarily reviewed an advanced copy of this book.
