3.5 Stars!

This book was FUN! It was a great Spring read- full over adventure and romance- the perfect combo. The wanderlust this book caused is going cost me (I literally went and purchased a flight abroad as soon as I finished)!

I love the MC- She is independent, strong and adaptable. I love that she is the heroine of her own story and leads the way throughout the story. As a fellow traveler, overlander and backpacker this book spoke to my heart in all the best ways!

Thank you NetGalley for the ARC! I am excited that this one is finally hitting the shelves!

I loved Float Plan, enjoyed The Suite Spot, and so was looking forward to this one! It was a fun & mostly happy adventure romance. I read it super quick because it was easy to get right into the story, to care about the characters & the pacing was perfect.

I'm relatively new to the world of reading romance, but Trish Doller's name is one that's always coming up and I hadn't gotten around to reading yet. When this ARC showed up on NetGalley, I decided to pick it up, and I can see why she gets the buzz she does. This story transported me back to many wonderful memories of Ireland of my own, and if you like your love stories with lots of steam, this will be right up your alley. One thing I've found with many romance series is that while it's better to read them in order, it's usually not required. In this particular case, I felt like I was missing something and a connection to the protagonist since I had not previously read books 1 and 2. And despite the fact that our leading lady meets her hero right off the bat, I still didn't really feel like I got to know him below surface level. Just some food for thought, but I have a feeling I'll be exploring Doller's other titles from my local library's collection should the mood strike in the future.

the worst rom com I've read

Carla lives by the phrase “here for a good time, not for a long time” and spends her days traveling the world in her old Jeep Wrangler. When she travels to Dublin for her best friend’s wedding, she is picked up from the airport by Eamon, a friend of the groom who is currently feeling lost in life. What should have been a direct trip across Ireland to get to the wedding turns into an adventure filled with unexpected detours and even more unexpected feelings.

One thing I love about reading Trish Doller’s books is the adventure they take you on. All three books in the Beck Sisters series allow you to travel through the pages, and the adventure through the Irish countryside in Off the Map was the perfect setting for this story. Trish also has a beautiful way of writing about finding love in the midst of healing. The stories she creates are filled with heart and emotion. Carla and Eamon’s love story was so fun to watch. The chemistry was pretty instant and this book was very steamy from pretty early on. I also adored Carla’s relationship with her dad. The stories of wanderlust and sense of adventure he fostered in her from a young age were a huge part of her identity. Seeing her slowly come to terms with his dementia diagnosis was heartbreaking. That story line in particular made this book so special.

I adored the audio. Sarah Naughton narrated the story with so much heart and the emotion this book needed.

Thank you to St. Martin’s Press, Macmillan Audio, and NetGalley for the advance copies.

To begin, I want to preface this review with the fact that I didn't know that this book was part of a series when I listened to it on audio. However, it made perfect sense as a standalone. I even loved it so much, I now went back and started the first book in the series!

So, onto Off the Map!

Carla Black is a seasonal bartender in Fort Lauderdale, FL. Her father, Biggie, has been diagnosed with dementia so Carla is avoiding going home. She travels the world with her earnings in her beat up Jeep Wrangler that was passed down to her from her father. Carla's best friend Anna (from book one- The Float Plan), is getting married in Ireland and Carla is the maid of honor. She is flying to Ireland and the best man (the groom's brother) is supposed to be picking her up at the airport. Instead, they decide to meet up at a pub. He is her ride to the wedding in a few days. They are supposed to go straight to the town where the wedding takes place but Eamon has a hankering for adventure and Carla is happy to oblige. Carla and Eamon go camping in the mountains, go four-wheeling in his old series 3 Land Rover, and go to a surf festival. Over the span of their adventures, they fall in love but don't quite admit it to each other.

I absolutely loved this story and devoured it in two days worth of listening on a road trip. I am definitely looking into more Trish Doller books!

Thanks NetGalley for the ARC!

Thanks to NetGalley for an arc of this audiobook. Below is my honest review.

This is the third book in the Beck sisters series and can be read as a standalone. However, I do recommend reading the first two books in the series, especially Float Plan.

Carla spent the summers of her youth traveling with her father. She loved it so much that she travels half the year as an adult. This book begins with Carla arriving in Ireland for the wedding of Anna and Keane (of Float Plan).

Eamon, Keane’s brother, creates maps for GPS companies. He has wanted to travel for ages, but never quite talked himself into it. Anna and Keane ask him to pick up Carla from the airport. Sparks fly between them from the beginning.

Carla and Eamon go on adventures across Ireland while heading to the wedding. But, don’t forget that Carla has one rule — do not fall in love.

Will they make it to the wedding in time? Will our favorites of books past make an appearance? (Spoiler, yes!) Will Carla break her own rule? Will Eamon ever travel?

I really liked this one. Carla and Eamon were likable and fun. They clearly got along as friends and had wonderful chemistry. I loved seeing old friends on the page. The new secondary characters were strong. Also, I enjoyed how the characters dealt with the struggles in their lives, especially Carla’s relationship with her father.

This is worth the read. Plus, the narrator was fantastic.
