book 2: Benjar

I confess, I have a love of playful catlike alien and Benjar fits that perfectly. I have enjoyed his humor and impulsiveness since he was introduced. The added layer of his abandonment issues made him the perfect mix of broken and fun loving. I also really liked Ruby but man I felt horrible for her sister! (I can’t wait for her book) I do wish we had more moments between the sisters and then a more involved reunion but I can’t complain too much about that. The story was short but also filled with spicy heat. I can’t wait to dive into book 3!

Benjar (H) joined his crew of brothers to escape his feelings of loneliness and now that he sees how happy Artek is with a human wife, he wants a bride of his own. He and some of his brothers follow the 'words of wisdom' that Nelly shared and decide to go into town and carry brides back to the ranch. Ruby (h) isn't the bride he initially picked or thought he wanted, but he realizes that she's just the right one for him - Benjar just has to convince her that he's the right one. Loved how they managed to live out the marriage vows - richer or poorer, sickness and health, love and cherish. Hot and steamy action for Benjar and Ruby, with special eggplant. Sweet alien romance. Love how this series is a play on the classic Stanley Donen movie - on of my favorite musicals. Read the stories in series order - things just make more sense, character relationships build, and the overarching story grows.

This series is about the residents of a colony on another world who have taken to Earth older times as a way of life, with minimal technology and very strict guidelines on what they can and cannot do. The story does described the world and how the founder as well as residents fit into the larger world and throughout the series you find out more about the colony's history and the people in the town.

This story focuses on how PTSD effects people in unsuspecting ways, with that being said in some aspects of the story I didn't like that it was portrayed that being with someone you care about would cure you without having to do the work around it. Although, in this story the male characters (who have been soldiers in the past) have already worked through some of their trauma prior to the females joining into their lives.
