This book was a funny witty romance. The banter and the character’s relationship was cute and fun. This is my favorite type of romance; where there is a little bit of thrill along with everything else.

A very charming, very pleasant read except for
The description of the brothers accident, and chapters 30-31, but those are intentional.
Not really any
sexually explicit scenes. Normally I like some lol
but with this book I was content without it. :)

This was a cutesy RomCom that found a way to be vulnerable by exploring forgiveness and self-worth. This one serves forced proximity, workplace romance, and fake dating. Hannah, our FMC, finds herself as the bodyguard for famous actor, Jack Stapleton.

A lot of this just read as silly to me. A lot of it pissed me off too. It’s basically implied throughout the book that Hannah is ugly (WTF?!), and her ex and “best friend” were the worst. But, I really loved how Jack and Hannah’s relationship developed, the focus on forgiveness and self-worth. Hannah navigating if she’s lovable/enough hit real close to home. Overall, this was a quick and cute read, and I appreciated the focus on heavier topics.

I usually love a romcom, I love fake dating, I love the idea of turning gender norms on it's head (it's so refreshing She was protecting Him, and there was no macho masculinity in the way).

I wish I liked this more than I did, but something about the writing style/narration didn't work for me. It felt a little juvenile, a little immature. The characters were lovable but it didn't click for me. The plot hit all the beats I was looking for, checked all my boxes, but somehow this felt flat and shallow, which was really disappointing.

Still, it was a fun, quick read. I tore through it and was finished in a night. 3.5/5 stars.
