A lot of reviews said this book was very graphic and hard to read. Won’t lie..it kind of was so definitely check trigger warnings.
For me, I didn’t have much issue listening to this book. I think ONE part made me gag, but that was about it.
Karin Slaughter really does a great job writing thrillers. Was this my favorite by her? Nope. This one did feel longer than needed. I feel like I didn’t have all my questions answered and that might be on purpose.
Also the characters weren’t likable at all. Only Lydia, Rick, and Dee were likable. I feel like Slaughter does that a lot with her writing. She has siblings and one is just so unlikeable but still the hero.

This was my book clubs book choice of the month, and for me it fell short of any expectations. The main characters were not very likable, and a lot of the mystery and suspense was given away in the early chapters leaving me bored. I was able to guess a lot of the twists before they happened, and a lot of the thrill or horror was repeated and honestly a bit over done. Someone said this book had torture porn written all over it and I have to agree with that sentiment. I still settled on three stars due to the story being engaging enough that I was able to finish without feeling like it was absolutely terrible. I didn’t hate the book, just also didn’t love it.

I cried, happy tears, sad tears, frustrated tears, and tears of no emotion left. Also read this on halloween, highly recommend for the vibes ! :)
