This would’ve been such a good book if it weren’t for the writing. Try it out if you’re interested but if you find yourself exhausted by the lengthy, redundant style, just know it doesn’t get better.

Where to even start with this book! It was not what I expected, and the subject matter was more intense than I originally thought. The author touches on classism, sexism, queerness, reproductive rights, and societal revolution so it's not a simple romance, as I was expecting.

It is difficult to say that I enjoyed this book, because I found a lot of the subject matter hit too close to home and made me emotional. However, I did find it very informative and inspiring so if you are interested in reading a book set in the industrial revolution told my a female perspective, please go right ahead!

This book was interesting because I didn't find I connected with any characters as they all had ( expect for George) quite intense dark sides and it was hard to root for any of them. Overall the end left me feeling inspired and glad for the revolutions efforts but the main characters did not contribute much to that.

Overall you get a clear look into aristocratic society, and poverty set in Montreal in the 19th century so it was very interesting to read about both sides.

I don’t think I can truly put into words just how obsessed I am with this book. It was insane. It was intense. It was captivating. These women, and George, ruled my life these past couple of weeks. They live in my head rent-free. There was never a dull/boring moment. 100% a top read of the year.

Two twists at the end literally had my jaw dropping because I hadn’t expected there to be a twist at all.

The sentences were so choppy it made it read very childish almost? Maybe that was the intention, but I just couldn’t take it.
