i saw the animated film first and thot it was brill. i came across the book at a bnb on the eastern shore and read it. its deep and full of truths but light in delivery. the scribbly illustrations are varied and veer toward a free chaos. the words are handwritten and i was not looking forward to deciphering but it was legible.

the simplest but most profound little book about love. it’s the kind of book i wish i could’ve read as a child but i’m glad i’ve found it now. it’s filled with important messages and reminders to treasure not only others, but also yourself, as well as the small things in life. i will be coming back to this book often to remind myself of these things, and i hope to pass this story down to my own little ones, whenever they come around.
