Cassandra Clare, the woman you are… I loved this book. Con and Kel are soulmates- I’m obsessed with them. The Sword Catcher/Parabatai bond is something that she has mastered writing and it breaks my heart EVERY TIME. And if the platonic relationship wasn’t deep and soul crushing enough, the romantic relationships in this books are also delicious. I love the female main characters in this books too- they’re driven, complex, and motivated in their own ways. Also, the plot in this book was so much more exciting than the first book. I can’t wait for book 3. A masterpiece, as always.

It took me a little time to get back into this sequel, and I feel that it didn't grip me in quite the same way as the original one did. It felt like not much happened for the first 80%, and then the next 20% went BOOM. Conor and Lin had chemistry, had development - Kel and Antonetta? Zilch.

There was so much tension and weaving of plotlines in this of the various characters in play and I loved that! Not quite a full 5 star read because I found some of the additional pov sections weren't as useful/helpful as they seemed meant to be but nevertheless, I am very curious where this story will head next!
