A sweet and warm story about a young girl who must step up and protect her city with the help of her magical baking. This book is lighthearted and funny while at the same time there is actually a real threat looming in the sky. 3.5 ⭐️

I loved how creative this book was! It makes sense that the author has done books for young adults/kids. As person who has a lot of amateur bakers in my life, this book brought me a lot of joy. It was such an easy read/listen. I think it will be appropriate for most ages. I would have loved this as a preteen read with my mom. As an adult, I equally enjoyed it.

I read this book trying to figure out if I could give it to my friend's daughter for Christmas this year. Even after reading, I'm still not 100% sure who the intended audience is - it seems like it might work for 5th or 6th graders, but the book has an odd mix of some elements for older kids and some for younger. I think my review is something like, good but not great.

A delightful story set in a remarkable world, adding it to a list of cozy reads for the future. Certainly reads much more as YA than I was expecting, but that lends to its charm.
