Wow, this book was amazing. I literally couldnt put it down, no matter how hard i tried. I love the connection the two main characters had and loved how well they were together. I loved the bold and brave Lucy but those moments of her not being able to talk to Asher drove me crazy specially since he kept coming to her and tell her things little by little. Made me want to scream at her.
medium-paced

For this was a meh book. I enjoyed it I chuckled I smiled but it just wasn’t anything amazing but know this was her first published work I think it was a good one compared to others. I felt like there lacked depth and more beyond lust and there really wasn’t a lot of action she was just trapped out at home for so much of it. Secondary character also played almost no role in this book too. Both of the main characters also felt flat there was potential in both but they just never really grew of felt fully flushed out

I liked the concept of the novel and I found it quite quick to read. There was good chemistry between the two main characters and I liked how they interacted with each other. I thought the style of it needed a little bit of work, though.

I would recommend it if you like mafia romances.

This one missed the mark for me. I didn't warm to Lucy at all. There was way too much time spent in her head, and it was repetitive and dull. She was also supposed to be super smart but only came off like that in certain situations when the plot needed it. Otherwise, internally, she was quite vapid.

Asher seemed more of a likeable character, but he was barely around. They had very little time together, and when it was there, it was quite shallow.

I was hoping for a sex filled Billionaire Mafia novel, but it was tamer than a kitten. There were a couple of plots going on but none of them overly developed and some fairly big leaps/plot holes.

I think it was meant to be slow burn, but it never seemed to reach the burn part.

I've just read a book by this author and LJ Shen and loved it, and I've seen that other books by the author are better, so I may try another.

Sorry, just not quite for me this one.

You MUST check out this new author, she is FABULOUS!!! It's hard to believe this is her first book!!
I will be following her work and reading whatever she comes up with next!

I have a new book boyfriend...and his name is Asher Black! OMG...he is definitely drool worthy!!
Asher and Lucy are amazing characters, with so many layers...as layers are peeled back and emotions and fears are dealt with they become stronger. Lucy learns she is no longer a runner, who runs from her problems, but she finds strength and courage. Asher learns trust and love, and how to let someone in. This isn't just a romance book, it's so much more!!

Parker S. Huntington will go far, if she keeps writing like this!

"I’ve always been a runner. Runners aren’t sassy. They’re never around to be sassy. They’re cowards, like I was before I met Asher. I wonder if this bold and brave person is who I am now that I’m done running."

Dark romances might not be for me.

this was... awful. i'm not sure what i was expecting from parker s. huntington, considering that up until this point i had only read one more book of theirs and didn't like that either, but this wasn't it. basically, my expectations for this were low but—holy fuck.
first of all, “asher black” comes with no dual pov—doomed from the start, because i feel like these kind of books don't really work without dual povs, at least for me personally. still, i naïvely chose to ignore this—to not let my prejudice win—and was punished for it. lol.
of course, “asher black” has problems that go way beyond the lack of dual pov—but that should have been my clue not to get into this, after all, i guess. was this the worst decision of my life? yes and no.
because i'm genuinely liking “niccolaio andretti”—actually, i'm basically done with it—so i guess this sacrifice was worth it in order to get to him. i can only pray that parker's writing gets better and better throughout the rest of the series, because now i have high hopes for it! i mean, this was a debut novel after all...

⭐3.5

This story was great! I loved Asher and Lucy! Their insta list slowly grew into more and it was definitely a blast to read. Although the situation they were in wasn’t perfect it made their love blossom! And then the chemistry sizzled!

I also loved the other characters like Lucy’s roommate Aimee! Everyone needs a friend like her to egg you on!

I love a good mafia/mob related book sand this one was great!
Can’t wait to read Niccolaio’s story!
