it was an ok read. lots of actions between any of the characters were not really explained, which was ok but somewhat confusing.
i tried really hard but this book reads like a laundry list and the characters go back and forth on every little thing

this was a painful read, i only finished it to see how bad it could get. the amount of plot holes in this book and the amount of abrupt changes in characters personalities, a one point they were strong and fearless, literally the next scene they were weak and fearful. it also felt like random traumatic events were just made up out of thin air to add shock value, like secrets can be kept, but it would make sense if a big secret had some sort of effect on the character. the characters backstory was not developed at all and important information about the characters was not mentioned until literally the end. i literally cannot believe this was over 400 pages, it could have been 200 pages. also what was the timeline even, literally felt like things were done in a day or week but turns out it was months.
This book would be 4 pages if Apollo ever talked or listened to Elaina. So many secrets Jesus Christ you peopleeeeee. The miscommunication trope was done surprisingly well though, and I hate groveling in books but fuck that shit was good. This is the first time I ever enjoyed miscommunication or groveling in a book and that’s saying something. I am a hater to my core and once I decide to hate something I rarely change my mind. Elaina should have taken the emeralds and ran but they were cute together so I forgive her. Well written, fairly spicy, and even funny at times.
