This book was maddening but also very good. If it can make you feel, it's usually a good book. Loved this series. L.M. Montgomery is definitely a favorite.

I genuinely don't know how to feel. Finally finishing such a darling trilogy is somewhat bittersweet. I love how she wrapped up each character's storylines, I wish that there were more books centered around these characters' lives, I would have loved to see Emily enjoying her life in her home with Teddy and getting to read more on Isle and Perry's relationship.
I absolutely love L.M Montgomery's writing and I am excited to read other books of hers.

Do you want to be depressed?

I think at this point L.M Montgomery had no happiness in her at all. Emily spends the majority of this book clinically depressed as her friends die or abandon her or betray her in ways that she just accepts. She finally gives in and agrees to marry the disgusting and emotionally abusive old man who has been grooming her since she was a child. When she thankfully escapes this fate she feels like she has wronged him. No one is happy, even those who theoretically have what they want in life. At the end, an ending that seems happy is tacked on but rings false because happiness is impossible in New Moon.

3.5 stars - wow Emily closes out her series with some drama. Not what I was expecting. It all felt a little over the top and unbelievable to me, especially based on other books by the author.
There are some beautiful sentences and scenes, as only Montgomery could write.
I’m glad for the happy ending and what a failure of communication to get us there.

To decided to revisit my past and reread the trilogy. I enjoyed it and I do think it spoke to me as a 13-14 year old but as on the reread it does feel like she lost her way in the third book of how to fill an entire book to basically get to the happy ending. Lots of random suitors and it feels quite rushed near the end. The Anne of Green Gables books are better
