***I'm not giving it a rating in the actual system, because this is firmly a Young Adult novel (although it has tough themes--but honestly high schoolers have tough lives for how long they have lived.) So, continuing a personal policy of not indicating ratings because I'm not who the story is for but rather a summer/review to include content/trigger warnings.

Honestly, I do think this is a book every one should read. Parents, High Schoolers, anyone that interacts with any of those groups. While at the heart it is a friends to lovers story with an added boy/girl next door trope, it deals with things like standing up to friends, drinking, drugs, parties that people like to pretend don't happen in high school, divorce, family drama, and death.

What happens when those things come to a head in the worst way possible?

There are definitely depression/suicide thoughts however, it fits the story and I think it was handled relatively well in terms of how it was presented in the story.

If I was to give it a rating I'd say 3.5 or 4 stars (I will never read it again because I can't necessarily handle having some of the content brought up again) but it is a well written story with character development and a happy ending.

This was quite the emotional journey. Bittersweet would be a great way to describe this book.

Despite this dealing with grief and sorrow, I didn't like it as much as, let's say, [b:The Problem with Forever|26721568|The Problem with Forever|Jennifer L. Armentrout|https://i.gr-assets.com/images/S/compressed.photo.goodreads.com/books/1562769688l/26721568._SY75_.jpg|43959628] which I adored. I didn't connect that much with the main character, although I did like Sebastian and Megan enough. It was hard to relate to the characters, and to me, they were just a bunch of teenagers grieving, and that had so much potential if only I were introduced more to each one of them. I wasn't engrossed in the story, but I also didn't find it that boring. I honestly wish this could've been more moving or something that'll touch me enough to call it a memorable book.

This one fell flat though, but it was still okay.

This book was so heartbreaking, gut wrenching and sad but I just couldn’t put it down. I absolutely loved the way it addressed how the MC’s dealt with grief and how people grieve differently. It was very beautifully written and the friends to lovers romance was so adorable too.

This book was annoyingly sad.

I understood where Lena was coming from and getting angry, I understood where her mom came from when she yelled at her, I understood where her dad came from.

I understood them. Doesn’t mean I agreed with them.

The only person I genuinely agreed with wholeheartedly with Abigail. Lena shutting them out and ignoring her friends and all those whom her actions have affected was wrong.

Beyond it even.

Lena, as her dad said, learnt the lesson about tomorrow’s coming “way too early”. I was devastating and I wish there was more chapters with Megan, just like in the book, her time was ended way too quickly.

First, I have to say, Lena was so so so relatable. I loved how she read and acted and ummm she was reading A court of thorns and roses and a court of mist and fury and I couldn’t have been happier. I loved how this wasn’t just another contemporary. The story will stick with me forever and I’m really glad I read this.
