Lamar Giles has done it again, proving once more why he’s one of my favorite authors. His storytelling never misses, and Ruin Road is no exception.
This gripping tale follows Cade, a star football player whose life takes an unexpected turn after a seemingly harmless novelty purchase from a pawn shop—and the wish that comes with it. Suddenly, he discovers that people’s fears around him completely vanish. Giles masterfully explores the dual nature of fear: its role as both a motivator and an inhibitor, as well as its importance in keeping us grounded and cautious.
I was utterly captivated by this story. It had me on the edge of my seat, challenging me to view life and the world in a completely new way. To me, that’s the hallmark of a truly great book—one that entertains while provoking thought.
Ruin Road is a story I’ll carry with me for years to come. I’m already anxiously awaiting the sequel—please tell me the epilogue wasn’t just there to make me lose my mind!

My first 5 star read of the year and it’s honestly so hard to put into words why. This was a tragic story with Wishmaster vibes that centered around hope, grief, and despair all around you. That’s all I can really get out, but I will definitely be reading EVERYTHING by this author.

Um - i just feel sad. I have no rating for this. But i have to put one for this review to go up. This was just a sad ass story to me. Plus there were some things left open and I'm not even sure what ? Is there going to be a sequel? I don't know what to say ??
