3.5. Cute book, quick read, made me self reflect. The pacing went a little wonky for the final third of the book but it was still a good read overall.

This is my favorite kind of book, of the Sunday read-in-one-sitting variety.

My Salinger Year is a memoir from the former assistant to JD Salinger’s literary agent, but it reads like fiction. Would make a great beach read.

A love letter to literature and New York, my two favorite things!

I don’t even really like Salinger. This book stands on its own.

I feel the urgent need to reread "Franny and Zooey" and "The Catcher in the Rye".

The second half of the book was amazing, it felt really honest and it was definitely inspiring for me. It started to get really interesting for me when Joanna finally read Salinger's books and she managed to overcome her negative assumptions about Salinger's novels. I am a fan of Salinger, but I was releived that this book is about  praising him all the time, still, it was great to see how Joanna becomes a fan of the author as well. But I think Joanna herself is a complex and interesting character on her own, so I dodn't mind that Salinger was kind of lingering in the back the whole time and did not "steal the show".  It was also interesting to see how a literary agency works and I found it disappointing at first that everything revolves around profit, but after all, reading new writers' stories must be an exciting job to have, even if you wouldn't want to do it in your whole life.
