I love scandal gossip and this book truly was a gilded age drama just like what I have loved to read in New York Magazine for years. As a huge fan of the Daddies, I was thrilled to have a chance to read a book that combines my two passions. This is the tale of Alexander Hamilton's great grandson and a kind of nutty lady he got involved with. I will not spoil any of the drama although some is told in the book description, but don't worry, there are plenty more drama surprises all the way through the end.

The author clearly did a ton of research pouring through old newspapers to get all the good details. I recommend to anyone who loves some drama.

The whole book felt rushed. There wasn't a lot of detail or insight into the things that happened. It just went over everything in a very superficial manner, I wish the book had been longer and gotten into more details.  Overall the book was just meh.

Narrator Rating:  3 stars
The narrator was pretty good. They weren't spectacular or great, just good.

I got what I wanted out of the first 80 pages, then I didn’t care about the story.

A good book about a crazy couple of people and those surrounding them in the Gilded Age. Very normal writing for this kind of book. Not amazing but not horrible either.

The Scandalous Hamiltons covers the trial and media representation of Eva Hamilton and Robert Ray Hamilton. This book covers con artistry, stabbings, divorce and tragedy through the eyes of the journalism of that time.

The author described the characters such flourish, and one could picture this book in a current true-crime documentary as the pages unfold. An in-depth look at the support characters add to the depth of the story. I was intrigued throughout. Much like a modern day celebrity court trial, the salacious findings of the trial gave a glimpse of the American elite.

While I found myself searching the Internet for pictures of the characters and places, I think this book could improve with historical pictures/references to help the reader familiarize themselves with the characters and historical places.

Fans of modern intrigue along with historical buffs can all find something enjoyable in these chapters. Overall a fun and intriguing read.
