This was a solid story and I liked everything except the last single line of it. I rolled my eyes hardcore. But everything else, I liked.

This book was actually a good read. Hopefully, things will work out for Lizzy and Jared...

4.5 stars. I love thrillers and this one was great! Super creepy. I'm excited to read the rest of the series :)

4/5

This was a really good thriller/mystery, but you need a strong stomach for some parts! I am looking forward to reading more of this series.

i think the story had a lot of potential but was ruined with mediocre writing capability. the ending was good and provided closure but the entirety of the book was just meh. the writing felt like it was aimed towards young adult, though it was never indicated on the actual book or by the author. writing was very under developed. too much word repetition and shallow conversation that didn't add to the story or characters.
character names were easy to remember and plot was easy to follow, although very predictable plot twists. all in all it wasn't a bad book but could've been developed and turned into a great novel

Fun But Predictable {Spoilers}

The premise for this book is solid. Victim turned PI. OK.

The protagonist is likeable with good character development.

Dislikes: spoilers ahead
The "twist" was soooooo predictable. I would've loved to see a secret accomplice or something. The second we know the niece is talking to a mysterious cute boy online you know its spiderman and she's gonna get kidnapped.

Victim blaming like a MOFO! So as a teen she lied and sneaks out to see her boyfriend and gets kidnapped. After she is rescued her Mom, dad and older sister blame her for ruining third lives because of 1 lie!?! Why!? Its just so angsty in such a bad emo way. Like these are adults still throwing it in her face years later? Wouldn't her parents just be relieved she isnt dead?

This Trope - YAAAWWWWNNNN

Why throw in that Jimmy gets cancer in the last 5 pages? What is the point?

I hate that all the characters live happily ever after. Like What's her name gets adopted even. Seems more like an ending to a fairytale.

I will read the second one to see if this gets better.

Ok, so, this was a reread, and it was not the masterpiece I remember but it was still pretty good for a thriller, with serial killers, which I love.
I really like that we have the killer’s POV, and several POVs, presented in a way that you don’t know who they’re at times. Making the guess work really fun.
The main character is pretty cool, dealing with a lot of shit from her own time with her abductor. The romance is nice and her relationship with the other female characters, all in a way trying to survive their own dealing with bad men, with the patriarchy is really good.
Overall, a super entertaining and well written book.

Kept me interested and had a decent story

Kept me interested and had a decent story

The storyline was pretty good and there was some mystery that kept me interested. It was easy to put down, but also enjoyable to read a chapter a night. There wasn't a lot of suspense, which I love and causes hours of reading, but I'm looking forward to reading the succeeding books. I also enjoyed the humor and minor romance. And the minor gore.
