I really like the stories around Baba Yaga, and had been wanting to get to this for some time! I'm so glad I finally did.

Marinka is a little frustrating in her single-mindedness at times, but she is a lovely lead and her heart is in the right place. Especially as the book continues and she realises just how much she took her Baba for granted and also how cruel the normal world can be sometimes.

I absolutely adored the Yaga culture and anytime we saw the others! Those small moments were so lovely. And the old Yaga is so fun - she still has such a sense of fun and wonder to her. Though I'm not sure I'd be okay with my house suddenly rotating around me! :D

The ending was perfect for Marinka, even if I may have been hoping for her to accept her Yaga heritage a little more. And I loved how it worked out.

This really is a fairytale book that brings wonder and joy into your life. 4 stars.

This was so cute! It was touching and heartfelt, and a fun little story about discovering who you are and how important ancestors and our families are.

I also want a Yaga house, just saying.
