Oh how I love this book.
Me and my dad shared a great love for reading and we took the time to read the classics. This besides Jane Austen was one of his favorites. He died this past January and I haven’t been able to read as much as I would like but I notice reading his favorites has helped a lot. This is one of those books that I’ve read consistently since I first read it in high school. This version from Barnes & Noble is the closest to the first version I read. Love it.

The Count of Monte Cristo is one of the best books I have ever read. I doubt that will ever change, even if I could manage to read a new book every day of my life. I found the book to be more than just a story about vengeance, as it had been described to me before reading. It's much deeper than that. I'd rather not go into it, for the sake of avoiding spoilers, but if you are the type to simply dismiss The Count of Monte Cristo as a typical tale of revenge let me tell you that you are doing yourself a major injustice.

Really enjoyed this book, I can see why it's a classic. It's a surprising tale of how young man (Edmond Dantes) who was on the brink of having it all, was cruely robbed of everything and unjustly imprisioned. Then makes a fantastic comeback to get his revenge. It was cleverly imagined and executed by the author. Things don't go the way you'd think. I'd be interested to read more by him.
I read this again because it kept coming up in the show Lovecraft Country. I remembered the story but not all the small details. Glad I read it again. Great story on jealousy & revenge.
