The Count of Monte Cristo - Alexandre Dumas

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
What a beautiful story! With this book being a translation, some times I had to go back and reread certain things to have it make sense but it didn’t take away from the story at all!! There are a lot of names to remember and it took me a little bit to get them all straight especially with certain characters who ended up changing their names! I thought the writing of the characters was great and enjoyed the whole plot! The book does have a HEA just not the one I was expecting! I also realize that this was written in the 1800s so I noticed so many things that wouldn’t fly today! Mainly the expectations of women!
I truly enjoyed this book and will keep on my shelf to pick up again!

I was glad I read the abridged version, as I don't think I could cope with another 700 pages!

Great beginning but the middle and end weren't anything special for me.

I can't rate this because I'm not completely sure I know what happened, but THIS BOOK WAS SO LONGGGG

What can I say? This is a masterpiece that explores the heart of man and his longing for vengeance. Parts of it are dark, yet as a whole the development of the characters and the climax of this revenge leads to a powerful redeeming end. This is not a book that grows old after a couple of rereads.
