I remember loving this book as a teen and have been wanting to revisit classics I loved and those I didn't enjoy the first time around. again, the Count of Monte Cristo did not disappoint, I loved the Barnes and noble paperback edition as I learned more about Dumas and how pivotal this book was for the newspapers of the time. dumas, Hugo and Balzac were like modern day Tv series writers. they wrote these episodes with cliffhangers at the end so that people would subscribe to the newspapers.

well I know I was hooked. full of adventure, clever revenge and romance, I could not out this book down, all 591 pages of it! this is a classic that doesn't feel like a classic. it's an easy to read translation without missing out on any of the plot or detail of abridged versions. highly recommend for reluctant classic readers and avid classics fans alike, the Count of Monte Cristo won't disappoint!

I'm impressed with this. They took a 1,000 page book and got the meat and bones of the story into 100 pages with pictures. It works very well. I enjoyed the art. The story was faithful to the original. The count did not seem as haughty here as in the story. He was a wordy blow hard in the book.

Either a great introduction to the story, or a quick way to read the story once again in a hour or so. I do like this story. It's about time. It reminds me of the scene in the Shawshank Redemption where Andy is talking about all it takes is time and how he carried his wall out. Count Monte Cristo suffered for a decade and then laid out plans that took another decade before he could get happiness. In todays world where we have instant gratification, it's hard to think of waiting 20 years for something.

I read this for english class, and only that reason. I’m not a big fan of historical fiction, so in the beginning it was kinda pushing it. We started of strong, like immediately into the book he gets thrown into jail. Then I just kind of lost interest, it got boring fast, you could kind of tell how the book was going even by just skimming it. I think that maybe in the future under different circumstances, I’ll reread it (fully this time) and maybe my feelings will be different.

The whole premise of this book is interesting, but for what reason did it neat to be 530 pages (I had a different copy than used for goodreads). So, it is good I guess but it would be so much better if it was cut short maybe. Overall, interesting.

This book was quite book. The beginning was my favorite part (before the Count goes to Rome) but much of this book was very enjoyable. It was very soap-opera-esque. It felt like all the common soap-opera tropes were in this book but they made it more enjoyable surprisingly. The amount of controlled chaos in the story is amazing. The only reason I gave this book 4 stars instead of 5 was because I found the middle confusing until I drew a character map. So many new characters were introduced all with different relations to one another. I was lost for awhile which drew about some boredom until I drew the character map that really helped.

As day as the book is long.

Words can't describe the magnitude of this book. It was utterly epic from beginning to end.
