If you can overcome a prejudice against self-published books, this one is sweet. Mostly a fantasy romance with some political intrigue and splash of action. Maybe a drop.
A cute example of the arranged marriage trope without any glaring holes or flaws.

I should have read this ages ago.

Great communication between mature adults. External conflict. A FMC who is mature and calm and playful. A MMC who is open, loyal, and besotted with his wife. It was wonderful to watch them evolve from strangers to friends to true partners and fall in love.

I’m a little bummed about the HFN ending but overall a great romance.

Loved their dynamic, the spice level as well, I was not a fan of the story itself, not sure how the next books are but maybe there would be more action

3.5 stars. I liked the main characters, and I enjoyed the book pretty much until the the last 10%. I just didn’t enjoy reading the “mad evil queen” character, and she really goes coo coo for coco puffs by the end there. Both of Grace Draven’s series that I’ve tried reading so far have had the main villain be a beautiful queen who is just unbelievably sadistic and evil for no apparent reason. I know that some people like that “some men just want to watch the world burn” type of villain, but it’s just not for me. So while the MCs are great. I’m a little in the fence for this book overall.
