This is a very cute book! It truly shows that having secrets can be a problem in a relationship.

-pretty much the only reason I would recommend this one if you are in the mood for a “Bridget Jones” type disaster woman. Especially if you are listening on audiobook. If you are, then yes read it absolutely. In that aspect it was very funny and entertaining.
-it was published in 2003 and it does seem like it. Emma isn’t just really down on herself for not being 115lbs like she claims (😦) but also any other “overweight” character is treated really derisively in passing. Glad that that isn’t considered funny in romcoms anymore.
-At a certain point I did start to wonder if Emma isn’t just an ingrained people-pleaser and is actually a pathological liar. It starts getting slightly old but then it does get a bit better.
-Pretty disappointed that she ends up with who she ends up with. I hoped that was just going to be a stepping stone on her own growth. He was so incredibly high handed and patronizing on their dates. And he does not get a pass for doing what he did on his interview ever. And how often he said “I know you!” 🙄 knowing a bunch of factoids does not equal knowing her.

The plane scene kills me, every time. 🤣 Sophie Kinsella is my angel. ❤️
Such a cute and feel good story. A bit predictable, but sometimes that is exactly what you need. I am glad to have read this before the movie comes out.
Like most of the Kinsella books I read this one is also a fun read. Though there's not much on the story front, I still enjoyed the book cover to cover.
I just love Sophie Kinsella books, they are SO cute and fluffy and I get all the feels <3

Funny, silly, dramatic and absurd, but that combination works perfectly for a book like this. It has some hilarious bits, others not as funny and a bit outdated, but nothing unforgivable (this book is older than ME lol). I might gift this to my mom, haha.
