Usually I do not condone the idea of fan fiction being published, if only because I feel that an excellent book/series can be made less so thanks to a bad story (I'm talking about you, 50 Shades of Gray. You started as Twilight fan fiction; I hate to think what the original draft was like). A big reason for this reduction of greatness, however, is because the writers of such stories twist the main characters into something else. (An example would be if someone wrote a Hunger Games fanfic story where Katniss chose Gale over Peeta, or a Twilight story where Bella chose Jacob over Edward.)
The author of this book, however, has instead chosen to write about Harry Potter's eldest son, which is a new twist. I am currently writing this review at 4:30 in the morning, which may say something about how much I enjoyed this book. Although it most certainly can not hold a wand to J. K. Rowling (and I feel the author of this story will not be insulted by me saying so) it is better than other published works where the authors actually earned money over. I will certainly read the next two books in the series, although I shall wait until tomorrow, err, later today to continue.

Obviously, this isn't Rowling's story, BUT it is a super impressive piece of fan fiction that I am so glad I found. Like everyone else, I always want more Harry Potter and this definitely gave it to me! There are some slight differences that a purist would probably dislike, but overall this book was very worth reading. Beloved characters make appearances (Snape, through his portrait, Neville, McGonagall, and Hagrid, to name a few), and we get to experience more adventure in Harry Potter's world through his son's eyes.
I like imagining what Harry's children grew up experiencing. They got to hear of all the adventures and all about the wonderful people who took care of Harry, but got to meet so few of them. They grew up knowing and loving The Boy Who Lived.. So what was it like? In JP and Hall of Elder's Crossing, You get a glimpse of that.
My favorite part of this book, honestly, is getting to know Teddy Lupin. I adored Lupin in the HP series, so getting to know his son in this story made me so happy.
I'm so glad I read this!

It's definately J. K. Rowling, but I enjoyed it just the same!!! A very good piece if "fan fiction"
Good continuation of the story that defines the childhood of many in my generation. Glad to see many of my favorite characters back. There were plenty of grammatical mistakes, a few continuity problems, and a couple of slips in consistency. A good read for those not quite ready to let go of Hogwarts.
Interesting enough. A fun little dip into the HP world again.
This is the first piece of fan fiction that I have ever read and I have to say that I was rather impressed. I am a huge fan of the Harry Potter books and was a bit skeptical to read the fan fiction of G. Norman Lippert and his James Potter stories. After reading several reviews I decided to give it a try and was pleasantly surprised. While it was obviously not J.K. Rowling it was still fun to go back to Hogwarts and the Potterverse that I love.
Not Bad!
Read it on my phone which made it super hard as it isn't the way I normally read thing
Love how it brings so much of hogwarts back alive

i think i put too much faith into this guy to make another harry potter book and it just wasnt the same...i didnt finish it
Although this is not written by JKR herself I am grateful to GNL for extending her story as best as he could though James's eyes. It's a nice to visit this world again, I've missed it so much. :)
James Potter and the Hall of Elders Crossing is a story about Harry’s firstborn son James Sirius Potter and his misadventures as a first year at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. This story is fan fiction, not part of the official series. The last chapter of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows (SPOILER❗) showed Harry and Ginny and Ron and Hermione at Platform 9 ¾ saying good bye to their kids as they jumped aboard the Hogwarts Express. One year earlier, however, is how this story starts.
.
As James comes to Hogwarts, strange things begin to happen. Join James and his new friends Zane and Ralph as they learn the magical arts and try to discover some mysteries of the old times.
.
The plot was fun and magical. It flowed nicely, and kept me hooked till the end. I also loved the little illustrations at the start of each chapter. It felt a little like the Harry Potter stories (bad guys in disguise, magical items to recover, major climax at the end of the school year.). The story was creative and it will captivate you.
.
After reading the whole Harry Potter series, and loving every book, did you feel a little sad when it was over? Did you want more magic and more Hogwarts and to know what happened to Hogwarts after the battle? Then this is exactly what you need to read.
All in all, the story is a great read with an amazing storyline and people who enjoy reading Fanfiction should not miss out on this one.
