You can't deny Lippert is a good writer, but there are errors, the scientific stuff is completely out of place in a magical series and the muggle thing is hardly believable. Despite this, it's a good and easy reading.

This story started out promising- it had developed characters, a well-supported plot, and, of course, the best setting of all time. However, about halfway through, I felt like the story just kind of... fell flat. I lost interest. The characters from the original cannon that appear in this story (Harry, Neville) didn't seem like the people I knew and loved.
I finished the book, and it was fine, but it fell short of my expectations.

Pretty good.
If you're a Harry Potter fan, you'll probably like this book.
The one inconsistency I found was the portrait of Snape in the headmaster's office. The series specifically said he didn't have one in the office because of the way he left his job.
However, having it there progressed the story, and didn't really take away from it.

This forward story of the novel show that James is not a hero like his father but , he do heroic deed without him knowing he put his views forward and try to solve problems on his own and ask for it when need arise. Story is return of merlin greatest sorcerer of his time and James earlier thought that Merlin is bad guy in the story but he became the coolest headmaster of Hogwarts although at start he didn't know things changes in past as he is dead for more than centuries and Hogwarts have changed alot from the time of its establishment, Merlin helps James in various ways in this year and hope to see some more adventures in future.

This book was more or less what I expected; tbh it felt very much like an early Harry Potter, with a few different names here and there, and written 20 years later, so it's a bit more snazzy.

I liked the plot and most of the characters, the writing was good enough to have me see and feel what was happening, and not get pulled out of the story by being too demonstratively present. That's a fine line!

I did get annoyed by Harry, I mean James, being a secretive little shit, keeping important stuff from anyone who could actually have done anything, despite repeated prompting by friends and advisors.

Usually a plot that revolves around people not communicating strikes me as lazy, but in this case it was very much in character. I was annoyed by James, not by the author. Very nicely done. I might pick up the next one in the series after a little break.

Honestly I can’t believe how good this was! Even though it’s not by Rowling, and not canon, it was incredibly written, so creative, and fulfilled the craving I’ve had for new Wizarding World content. It had so many small tie-ins and nuances that could only have been written by a true die-hard, or by Rowling herself. I felt like this could’ve been part of the official series. I recommend it, and now I’ll have no choice but to read the second one.

I have to say, as a fan-fic, it is a pretty good book elaborating all those details and that made me like this book.
But the fact that muggles randomly visit Hogwarts or anywhere else is just the thing I didn't like. Also, why on earth would the fact that Harry and the gang destroyed Voldemort JUST be some story MADE UP? I mean, it's just the next generation and not like, a century later that everyone thinks Harry's bluffing and stuff.
But yeah, got to say, bringing Merlin back and all of that is like the plot, so that's that. (The whole American people coming out of nowhere is also the whole thing, which was well, not necessary at all.)
Maybe one thing we were looking forward to was to meet Cedric as a ghost, and that's there.
Yep, that's the whole thing.

I gave up about half way through, and making it that far only due to my fondness of reading the actual series. The characters were one-dimensional and predictable, not because a reader of Harry Potter knows the history, but because cultural and age related stereotypes are really overdone. I know this is fan fiction, but based on the other reviews I had expected a better story.
