The updated setting works well, and Jane is a refreshed and sparkier version of the Bronte original. But there's a decidedly soft glow around Rochester that should not be there. We won't discuss the batshit denouement, either. You need to experience it for yourself. This is a mixed bag for me.
It was a nice, modern-day rendition of Jane Eyre. Very creative in some aspects and it diverged from the original storyline only slightly. If you enjoyed Jane Eyre and if you like graphic novels, I suggest it!
the art was beautiful but wow did that plot take a turn
I really liked the story and the art on its own, but there's some fundamental plot and character elements from the original text that are either left out or changed that just didn't quite work for me, like the relation between Jane and Mrs. Rochester for example. The whole female gothic metaphor with "the woman upstairs" seemed to be missing to me.
I really enjoyed it as it's own story though! Really great art and the pacing of the writing made it so I just couldn't put it down! Would highly recommend, just go in knowing it's a very loose modern adaptation.

If you are looking for a modern retelling of Jane Eyre... this is not it. It is a thinly plotted, predictable story of a poor country girl and a rich city man. The art is different which is at least engaging but the actual story is painfully boring.

It's okay. I remember reading Jane Eyre and just being so blown away about the big reveal in the attic and this one just felt...rushed.

for a jane eyre adaptation it started strong but i knew it would be rushed and messy because its only 260 pages. good art and paneling but tried to condense way to much
