Basically a way to show how the Adversary is taking over the Homelands. They talked about the Arabian worlds in the last volume and this is the way to bring Sinbad and Aladdin in to the mix? I guess.. pretty lame though. And perpetuates quite a few stereotypes.

An entertaining diversion in the epic plot that Homelands began in full force, and subtle commentary on world events. Beautifully drawn, with a whole new cast of characters, broadening the fables beyond the European ones we are typically so familiar with.

I've been working my way through this series slowly and have mostly been entertained. I love the concept of fairy tale characters from different stories interacting with each other. But. This was probably the worst volume for me so far. I've seen a few reviews on GR point this out (but not many): the portrayal of the fables from the Arabian homeland. It was stereotypical and honestly just downright offensive in its jokes about the language barrier. I feel like there was an opportunity here for this to be a much more interesting and deeper arc. Because problems aside, it was also quite boring. I may continue it since I enjoy some elements, but my expectations will be pretty low going forward.

I enjoyed the second arc (with the wooden lovers) more than the Arabian arc. It was a little too short and wrapped up too neatly.

Also I miss Bigby.

I love that Sinbad comes to visit Fable town and brings his Vizier and a Genni with him. I love the Arabian Nights and it's nice to see a little bit of that. It becomes a political thriller and Prince Charming actually makes some good decisions. The witch from Hansel and Gretel is pretty awesome in each story too. You don't want to cross her. She is powerful and read.

The first 3 chapters about about the Arabian story line. The final chapters are about some wooden soldiers under the adversary. They have reached the Arabian party of the myth world and it is a fierce battle. We see why the soldiers are so good. The don't get a hurt being wood. I wasn't really into until until the end when we see what is going on.

This continues to be a great, every expanding story. I really enjoy this one. I'll be going on.

I really liked this Fables. That did not surprise me. I am a huge fan of the series without a doubt. However, in ranking with the other fables comics it is not as up to par. I'm hoping for a happy turn around in Fables 8. Because this particular Fable only earned average love. Still a great read though!

Not my favourite, the main story was slow paced and nothing really happened but The Ballad of Rodney and June was utterly adorable and I am looking forward to seeing how their story will interconnect with the main Fables.

"http://nwhyte.livejournal.com/1285829...[return][return]The series goes seriously off the rails here, with some very dodgy Arab stereotyping, dubious references to the Iraq invasion, and a plot twist that is not very credibile even in the context of the series ('I changed the words that came out of his mouth, even though I don't speak his language'). I got it for completeness but I think it can be skipped."

This one didn't do as much for me, ultimately unmemorable on whole. Can't win 'em all, I suppose, but given how good Fables has been up to this point, you can forgive a stumble here and there.
