i can't really give this a rating, while it did keep me busy, i got frustrated with myself for taking so long on it again, I had to read other books in order to finish this one, and i just finished this one tonight, so maybe 3.5 stars? i don't really know the lack of action just dragged on to long for my taste, but i'll give the rest of them a go because i have most of them...
YOU DON'T NEED TO READ THE DRAKE BOOKS IF YOU CAN'T FIND THEM BECAUSE THEY WRAP IT UP NICELY (The only plus side about this book) I'm only reading this book to get to the Torpedo Ink book...but it was good if you wanted adorable fluffyness and cute guys that aren't abusive to their girls so in that aspect i decided to buckle down and give it a 4....not only that but the characterization is there and that's what i look for in a good book
so while i say 3.5 i really mean 4.5

DNF. While I enjoyed the unique FMC compared to the regular romance protagonist, the repetitiveness of reminding us of her triggering behaviors and her special powers with water ended up being highly annoying, and I couldn't continue reading the book.
Wow, this book kept me hocked. I just got this book the other day and kept reading it until I was done. My fears of it being just like the Drake Sisters didn't have merit.
The story is fresh and a new approach to a very exiting materia,l about elementals, people that have a special affinity with an element, but playing in the still familiar enviroment from the small sea habor town, Sea Haven, we all know and love from the Drake Sister.
I enjoyed it and I'm very exited to get the next book in the series soon. Unfortunatly I stll have to wait a good year for it to happen.

Returning to a series with an adjacent series. Accepting each other as you are, seeing differences as strengths. Autism. Elemental magic. Bound together thru magic palm marking. Saving each other’s lives.
raise your hand if you saw the cover art and thought this book was a mer-person romance?
I thoroughly enjoyed Rikki and Lev’s story. I loved their slow-burn romance. Rikki is autistic and the first neurodivergent heroine I’d come across in romance. Because of her autism she has certain requirements and needs things to be very specific. It was beautiful to watch Lev identify her challenges, how she dealt with them, and establish a routine that works for both of them. She is also a water elemental. A number of beautiful scenes describe Rikki directing rain across the farm she lives on as if she was conducting an orchestra.
The connection between Rikki and Lev is palpable. Rikki is one of my favourite heroines. I love her mix of strength, power, vulnerability, and sensitivity. Lev is a great counterpart for her. I love how he fits himself into her world, initially to hide, but then realises he is exactly where he wants to be. He also forces her to stretch outside her comfort zone. I really enjoy their journey of coming together.
There are a few red flag moments early in the story when Lev is dealing with his concussion and memory loss and he is violent towards Rikki. He stops as soon as he realizes she is no threat to him. I have to say not that much happens through a lot of the book, so the story may be a little too slow for some readers.
This is not an #ownvoices story and I cannot speak to the autism representation. In the research I did it appeared that the descriptions of Rikki’s sensory issues were appropriate and realistic.
I recommend WATER BOUND if you enjoy slow-burn romances with a twist.
