I loved this book so much, the romance, and the mystery, I just wish that the font was bigger so to make it an easier read!

Water Bound is the first in a new Christine Feehan series, the Sisters of the Heart series. I have really enjoyed her other series', but Water Bound was just lacking some of that old magic. The plot was entertaining - reminiscent of the Drake Sisters Series, which it shares it's setting with - but there were too many "broken" characters for me.

Rikki is a high-functioning autistic, and believe me it is described in depth over, and over again. Then there's our hero Lev, who was a hit-man of sorts before Rikki pulled him out of the sea. If I had to read one more passage telling me what a bad guy he used to be and how he wasn't the sort of man who deserved a "happily ever after," I would throw the book across the room! I think my dislike for the main characters is what made this such a hard book for me to read.

It took me over a week to read this smallish paperback, and it is definitely my least favorite Feehan book. I'm sure I'll be picking up the next book in the series when it comes out. I just hope the other "sisters'" stories are better than Rikki's.

Unique protagonists and an interesting story. I liked the how the paranormal features of the book blended seamlessly into a relatively normal reality.

This was a fun read. The ending felt anticlimactic, but it was worth the read. I don’t know if I’ll read any of the others. If I do, I might read the series that comes before these.

Really enjoyable! I love characters with Autism or ASD so I really liked Rikki. Lev was great for her! I am excited to continue with this series for sure!

I am blaming my love for Lev solely on my obsession with Bucky Barnes- apparently I like stabby, murderous, and brainwashed cinnamon rolls.

What I liked:
-The female lead. Rikki is courageous, smart, and has questionable eating choices. She's also autistic. She's kickass and a loyal friend, and I just loved her interactions with Lev. So much snark.
-The male lead. My murder baby, Lev, managed to steal my heart with his general stabbiness and odd vulnerability. I loved how he described his feelings and how he was truthful towards Rikki even when his very questionable tendencies were revealed.
-It made me laugh so many times. It also made me cry because brainwashed Russian assassins are my soft spot and this book insisted on sucker punching me every 40 pages or so.
-The relationship between the found sisters.
-Rikki's power. Particularly the way it was described; it seemed poetic and magical to me.
-The fact that Rikki didn't demand to know the truth; she knew his past was terrible and that his answers were not going to be easy to swallow so she let him tell her everything at his own pace.
-The relationship between Rikki and Lev. Although some could argue that it was a tad insta-lovey what with the bound between them, I don't really see it. To me, it seemed that it grew slowly and evolved into something beautiful.
-I also liked how the sex scenes were written. Sure, you can throw some sexy time on a page, but if there's no feelings involved, I won't even bat and eye and skip it.

What I didn't like:
-The repetition of some adjectives.
-The use of 'suckle'. This word makes me shudder for some reason.
-The stalker was a bit of a let down to be honest.
-Ivanov, the scary dude, that appeared for like two seconds. For a supposedly amazing assassin, he was kind of not that scary.
Moments I live for:
-Rikki wanting to throw Lev back into the ocean after he attacked her
-when Lev discovered that Rikki had only peanut butter and broccoli and basically went 'bitch, you live like this?' and then proceeds to feed her.
-Rikki fighting Lev on the boat. What can I say? I like a girl that can do some damage.
-The moment when she puts him to bed and finds a small arsenal on his person.*chef's kiss*
-When Lev told her that he could recognize her by the smell, and Rikki's first response was not "Ew", but "I'm taking a shower."
-the arguments about the boat;
-they both were emo as fuck, but it only made me love even them more;
-Rikki throwing a fish at Lev, and Lev's first reaction was to shoot it. Excuse me, sir, but we are on a boat??

A couple of pages in, I discovered that I was supposed to start with the Drake Sister Series (oops), but I am glad I started reading this one first. I was surprised how much I loved this book I hope I'm going to love the other books too, since I saw they're about the other Prakenskii brothers. Peace out.✌

I loved the Drake sisters series by Feehan, and I would be willing to give others in this series a try, but Rikki was just too far out there as a heroine for me to connect to. I just couldn't relate to her or her struggles, and so I wasn't engaged in her struggles.

This just wasn't the right fit for me.

DID NOT FINISH: 17%

I got 80 pages in and was over being told how special and different the protagonists were. Also, lots of jumping heads mid paragraph and sometimes even mid sentence.
