This is one of those books where you make yourself a cup of tea and when you take a sip after a few minutes find it’s been cold for an hour. Tight plot. Shocking twist. Lots of cleverly done moments. And just generally very precise. He describes two locations in detail. The Municipal building and the smelting works, because that’s all that’s needed. Everything else he leaves up to us. One of those books that’s the perfect example of its kind.

This book is wild! The guy main character is a lay-about that get with a rich girl so he won't have to work again. But then she gets pregnant and the guy is worried that her father will disown her and he will get nothing. So he kills her! THEN HE GOES AFTER HER SISTER AND STARTS COURTING HER. THEN KILLS HER WHEN SHE GETS SUSPICIOUS! THEN GOES AFTER THE THIRD SISTER!!!! People talk about thrillers that keep them on the edge of their seat but this really lives up to it. A classic for a reason.
