Sawyer is incredibly passionate about the indigenous people exploited in the politics and production of crude oil. She offers many examples of indigenous resistance to corporate reign and tells a colorful tale of triumph and loss mixed with examples of neoliberal toxicity. This ethnography broke my heart and further instilled the values of an anti-corporate and anti-globalization activist within me.
