Got bored, didn’t love the narrators or the writing. I was actually interested in Kosika and Tes but when we cut away from them to sit with Lila and Kell for chapters on end going back and forth between past and present for some reason, I didn’t feel like continuing. Maybe another time.

I had fun reading it, but it almost seems like reading fanfic of another work. There's very little character development - people are just put in Situations, where they exchange charged glances and pin each other's arms back and get the literal or mental equivalent of a sexy scrape on one cheek. There are a lot of very cool ideas in the magic system and about the characters' backstories, but a lot of the characters are very similar archetypes that all have similar flaws.

And HE'S a tortured magician who hungers for power but is ~conflicted~ because of something in his equally mysterious past? Crazy stuff man, which of thethree characters each of these apply to are going to bone each other first?
