I received this book from a giveaway and really enjoyed it. A "who done it" with two endearing main characters, a gritty historical background, and superstition and the supernatural that left you wanting more. Was very hard to put down once it was started!

Sherlock & Watson meets ghost story on the high seas… with some of the best imagery/figurative language I’ve read in a long time. Some of the lines were so good, I just had to re-read. The story itself is clever. You feel like you’re figuring out a puzzle box with holes in it to look inside, but what you “see” isn’t what’s there. The story unfolds and everything fits together in the end.

I was honestly a little disappointed by the book. I really enjoyed Evelyn and I felt like this one lacked some.of the morning intriguing puzzle aspects.
I was also extremely frustrated with the characters. Yes, lots of betrayal, etc but it felt like at the end of the book, Sara and Aren't just discarded their principles to save a friendship with the people who had just stabbed them in the back.
