This book was awesome! It makes more sense if read after 'Nothing Special', but that isn't strictly necessary, though I'd personally recommend it.

Plot: A cop coming to terms with his sexuality and a man running away from his abusive husband. Both were dealt with well and neither was angsty to an extreme - they have hurdles, but these hurdles are overcome with a realistic amount of difficulty.

Characters: Syn was awesome and completely badass!!
Spoiler (as shown in the first couple of chapters)
He has an issue with his sexuality, but he deals with it pretty maturely, probably because of the camaraderie within his unit at work. It clearly gives him confidence to treat Furi properly.
Furi has had a crap time of it, but has put himself back on track, using what he needs to to achieve his dream. It may not be something he likes (aka the online porn), but he does what he has to because he wants his own automotive company with Doug. It's admirable, and whilst his past makes him wary of Syn to begin with, once he realises that Syn is a great guy, he jumps in with his whole heart. Both characters are very likeable and you want them to end up happily together!

Sex: Very, very, very hot and both characters are versatile, which is something I particularly liked!

I thoroughly recommend this book because I adored it - go and read!

I am so glad that I did not pay attention to some of the reviews. I absolutely loved this book. The banter between God and Day as well as the development of the relationship between Furi and Syn was amazing. I loved every second of this book. Well written, very few grammatical errors, great plot and the snarkiness just threw this book into one of my all time favorites. Don't let some of the reviews scare you off this book.

Good story, fun characters...needs better editing

I enjoyed this second book in the series. What’s not to like about more God and Day and the introduction of more great characters?

The beginning is a great intro though of course readers of book one will figure out what is happening. The introduction of Syn is well done and his character is quickly integrated as the squad’s third in command.

The crime part of the story is a bit vague with some big plot holes, especially as it ties into the other criminal/suspense part of the story. Connections aren’t explained and it doesn’t make a lot of sense. The climatic scene is telegraphed pretty loudly and also is a plot hole considering what has come before. How it occurs is never explained and needed to be. How the bad guys from one crime hooked up with the bad guys from the other crime? Never explained and needed to be. Additionally, as in book one, there are lots of proofreading issues and that is seriously annoying. The author has some good ideas but really needs better editing and/or beta readers to smooth things out. It takes away from what could have been a much tighter book.

I like the characters enough that I’ll read the next book but if there’s no improvement I’m not sure I can justify paying the price for a book the author doesn’t take seriously enough to engage better services.

I don't know what to say about this one. It was fine. I enjoyed Furi and Syn together for the most part. I just never really warmed up to the book on a whole. I didn't like Syn much. I didn't like how he turned Furi's abuse and made it about himself. I didn't really like his work interactions with God/Day that much. He seemed to forget that they are his bosses. Just ugh. But I did like Furi (though he had his own ugh moments). I did like their chemistry. I still smiled as I read the ending.
