A bit of a slow start, but the second half of the novel more than makes up for it.

What the fuck was that. Did not finish.

so agonisingly boring and pretentious that I felt like writing a review. why was there a play in the middle. why was there so much mediocre poetry. so many questions and I do not care about the answers. not 1 star because the language was lovely

Did you like Gatsby? Read this! Just a warning, it is not a happy book. It begins full of life and wit, but as we watch Amory Blaine grow and interact with the world, we see him and his peers deteriorate into disillusionment. While Gatsby gives a distant account of the reckless behaviors of the roaring twenties, this book gives an up close and personal look at Amory and his faults and failures. This is a touching and emotional story: read it!

Not my favorite Fitz book. The plot is choppy and I didn’t enjoy the poetry throughout. Definitely room for improvement and I’m glad he kept after it.
