I don’t think this was the book for me but I didn’t hate it! While I appreciated the visibility on this stage of life for women and the complicated emotions that accompany it, I felt like it was weird on purpose in ways that did not land. The most moving part of the book was when she asked her friends what the best part of going through menopause was there were so many responses I’d never thought of, and I think that scene is my takeaway from this book. I’d like for it to be that and not the tampon scene hahaha.

Almost fell off of this book around the middle, but I’m glad I hung on as for me the themes didn’t come into view until the second half of the book. It was vibrant, engaging, wild, and offered a very unique view into a standard trope (the mid-life crisis). I had come off of a series of books that I felt ‘didn’t go for it’ , this book definitely ‘goes for it’.
