I will consume anything Emma Thompson creates and this was a lovely read. I've never read a screenplay before and I was surprised at how fluid and seamless this was - probably why she won the Oscar! Emma's diary entries felt like a friend talking to me at the end of the day. She is funny and charming and so witty - deeply feeling and loyal. This is a precious book to me, and I learned a lot about the film industry and how shooting a film actually goes! Strong strong recommend. (This makes me itch to read the Fleabag Diaries now...)

I never knew that Emma Thompson wrote the screenplay to the movie version of Sense and Sensibility until I saw this book pop up on someone's GoodReads timeline. Is it any wonder I love Ms. Thompson? (It surprised me how full of self doubt the journal portion of this book is- doesn't Emma know she's fabulous?)
While it is impossible to truly capture the brilliance of Jane Austen in a two hour movie, I think that this film production of Sense and Sensibility does a respectable and lovely job of it. Of all the Jane Austen movies, this is my favorite. (Probably because I love the book more than I love Pride and Prejudice, but the film is stunningly cast and directed.)
The best part of this book, however, is the spot-on, perfectly written, and delightfully biting letter that Imogen Stubbs wrote as Lucy Ferrars to Elinor Ferrars. Such pettiness, such self absorption, such cheek. I loved every venomous and frivolous sentence of it.

Surprisingly candid journals about the filming of S&S. Thompson should write more - a novel or memoir or something. I like her voice, funny and honest.

This is lovely and TOO SHORT! I loved Emma Thompson's journal entries and just wanted them to keep going. Forever.
