This was a waste of listening time. I only made it to 62% because I was skimming. At this point, I really don’t care if they stay together, never see one another again or something in between. I need authors to STOP extending unnecessary storylines into two or more books. This shit could have been settled in one book. Grrr.

Emotional from the start! I was not ready for the emotions and were they high. Nina and Mase are struggling to co-parent after the events from book one. There are so many questions left unanswered that Nina and Mase are working to figure out as they navigate their lives with baby Ellis. Both Mase and Nina have so much past trauma to work through.

I love the banter and interactions within the friend group. Even though the guys are Mase’s friends, they are there for Nina just as much. And the connection between Elliot and Luce, I’m DYING for that to happen!

One of my favorite things when reading a book is just grinning at two characters. When the healing begins and they start to just be themselves with each other and you can just feel the love.

JC writes angst and heartbreak so well. I felt every emotion. Mase and Nina’s journey is full of emotion, drama, heartbreak, and ultimately, love. In their own ways, they fight for that love and fight to be a family.

I loved this duet and instantly fell in love with Mase and Nina. I cannot wait to read more from JC and see where the story goes from here!

I was given an ARC from the author in exchange for an honest review.

Holy anxiety in this one. Damn!! Nina and Mason were straight up stressful for most of this book. The way they continuously hurt each other was painful at times. But that was the intention. They may have been apart physically but they were so intrinsically tied, there was no real living without the other. I wanted to strangle them but I also understood where each stood.

Mason never allowed himself to process painful moments in his life. He never allowed himself to grieve for the things and people he’d lost. He bottled so much up that he was kind of a ticking time bomb.

Nina was every bit a runner a character could be. She refused to deal with pain in any capacity which in turned only caused her more pain. Vicious cycle.

BUT I needed Mason and Nina together. They were better together in every way. They said and did stupid shit to the other that was all fear based. Once they had their come to Jesus moment, my heart finally beat normal again. Thank fuck!

There were so many twists in this second book that I really didn’t anticipate. Definitely kept me on my toes! (Hints include Nina’s mom, Joey and a sad diagnosis, and Lance.)

Overall, I loved the characters, I had true moments of heartache and anxiety, and I really enjoyed Nina and Mason’s love story (even tho I could’ve hurt them at times.)

And can we talk about Elliot and Lucy for a minute - their book is going to set the world aflame!! I’m so ready.

But also everyone else’s story - I need them all like yesterday! Give it to me!!!

Nina and Mase are broken. She’s walked away for the last time. Mason won’t chase her…again. If she won’t give him the time of day, he is not going to waste his. Nina refuses to give Mason a chance because she doesn’t want to put up with Mase’s crap anymore.

But they have a piece linking them together… forever

There is a chance for a future, if they could only learn how to communicate with each other.

”Don’t push me, Nina. You may not be mine to fuck anymore, but you are mine in every other sense of the word.”

Mason and Nina completely drove me nuts in this book. If they just took a moment, a little breather, and actually sat down and talked to each other, their lives would not be so complicated. The intentional hurt they put on each other. The constant pushing and pulling could have all been avoided. They really needed to get their shit together for the sake of themselves and well as the readers.

The chemistry between them was still off the charts and you could really feel it off the pages. You knew they were ‘endgame’ even with all their high school BS.

Overall, I really enjoyed this duet.

After the toxicity of Nina and Mason's initial relationship, I was hesitant to go into the second half of their story but I'm glad I did. They've matured a lot in this book and you can understand why from the get-go. I appreciated the slower start since their romance was so insta love and fast-paced.

There was a lot more plot to their relationship and more twist and turns throughout. I was definitely shocked about some of the reveals that happened. The characters all deal with difficult problems and they all support each other through difficult times. The side characters also play a larger part and start to bring more dimension to the story as their interactions no longer revolve around the main characters' life.

At times the story became repetitive and I wanted more movement or change in the scenes. There were a lot of questions without answers. I would have preferred less of the back and forth that we had in book one since they should have moved on from that but the ending was a lot better than book one.

I really really OBSESSED over this one coming out. I’m not even ashamed to say it. I HAD to know who, why, & how. Talk about a shock when we get those answers! I LOVE Mason & Pixie! F*fking SWOON! Them as a family? SWOONx2! Have ALLLLLL the babies! I need a bonus please and thank you. Just their little family and more of their happy moments down the road.

The grovel from Pix? Very well done. It was different than what I normally read. Almost all the grovels I tend to read are from the H.

The only thing I wish I would’ve got more from is her family storyline. Hopefully we get a future book that follows that, but I do want to see that relationship play out more.
