It always amazes me that as many historical novels that I have read about WWII, there are still aspects of that time period to explore. This novel primarily takes place in postwar Germany. The author draws on her characters from interviews she conducted with many Germans including her own grandmother. Well written and highly recommend.

Many books in this era end happily when the war does. This book is proof that that's often not the true case. This was very sad but an excellent read.

This was a really interesting look at post-war Germany, and the German resistance - two things I don't know much about. Some of the ending was a little too neat and pat, but I really enjoyed the whole book and couldn't wait to find out what happened next.
