Chase's best friend's little sister Ariel asks him to help her vet potential baby daddies. She is 24 but has just found out she carries a gene mutation for cancer. Ariel decides to get a prophylactic hysterectomy/mastectomy but wants a baby first.
The clock is ticking....
She has 4 months to get pregnant. Chase has always been her crush, but she can't ask him to be the ONE. He has so many relationship issues. He is stuck on his ex-girlfriend. Ariel couldn't ask him to impregnate her then pretend it didn't mean anything to her.
Turns out Chase really likes Ariel too. They get closer and Chase doesn't feel right about Ariel hooking up with a random guy. He wants to be the one, because he cares for her.
This book is the last in a series. I hadn't read the others and there are a lot of other characters / couples from previous books here. I was a little confused at times with who was related to whom, but it wasn't too distracting. Like all books with this trope, the sex deal / best friend's sibling starts as a favour with no strings attached and becomes more as the two mc's fall in love.
This book contains steamy love scenes.

Naughty meets nice and sparks fly. Kaswell has no problem when it comes to delivering the 3 H's (humor, heart and heat). Ariel give romance their own special blend of spice and angst. She's a spirited woman with more than just equations on her mind. He's the edgy, bad boy with more heart than he likes to reveal. The Baby Bargain is perfectly, imperfect fun.
The Baby Bargain by Crystal Kaswell, oh my where do I begin with this book. Ugh, ok so this isn't the first time I read a Crystal Kaswell book. I think its the second go around and like the first, I slogged through it, but there is something about this book that I needed to continue with it. I loved the trope of the please-get-me-pregnant-i-want-a-baby-by-my-trusted-friend, but this one was odd to me. First off, there are too many characters to keep up with; whose related to who and whos doing who/who loves who. I kept forgetting who the main character, Ariel's, brothers were, or who Chase's brothers were; all very confusing. I'm sure for fans of her Inked Hearts series, this novel is easier to get through. Honestly, the whole, I cant love myself, I'm a martyr complex was annoying and not fleshed out enough. I didnt get to know the characters well enough to completely understand their personalities. Ariel was a smart girl, but there was no investment in her work life or familial life, other than constantly mentioning her dead mom. Also, the who you fucked my sister fight came a bit too late, as well as the entire friend group finding out that Chase impregnanted Ariel came a bit too late in the story for me. BUT CAN WE TALK ABOUT THE LAYOUT OF THE NOVEL. omg, I cannot get over the writing/text style of the book. There was awkward placement of words, and the break ups for inner monologue/conversations. Honestly, I had to power through this novel and force myself to finish it. I dont really recommend it.... 2/5 stars
Love the characters
The baby bargain is such a good book! I love the characters and the world they’re in. I haven’t read any of the other books in the series but this didn’t make me feel like I was missing something. The chemistry and the sec are crazy hot!!!! You’ll love this book!

This was such a fun romance. It is nothing super deep or a story Iw ill be thinking of forever but I had a great time reading it.

I say it every time I read one of the IH series but this is my new favorite! I absolutely loved these two. I hated her situation but I loved how he never once had any plans to let her down. They were a match from the start. I loved all the references to Matt Murdoch and Daredevil haha
I received an ARC for an honest review.

So often, the "I need to have a baby now" books have implausible or annoying (in order to inherit property in a will - hate that) reasons for the urgent pregnancy. In order to avoid spoilers, I will just say that "The Baby Bargain" touches on a very real and serious reason for having a baby on a short timeline. It also includes themes related to mental health diagnoses - both explicit and implied - that impact on the main characters' evolving relationship. The inner dialogue and emotional experience of the main male character is complex and poignant, reflecting a richly developed character. Some very challenging themes are addressed in a way that is thoughtful, deep, and respectful of how these situations are experienced in real life.
I am enough of a book nerd that I read the author's notes at the end of books, and as much as I loved this book, I might have loved the author's notes more, as she echoed so many of my pet peeves about romance, confirmed my impressions of Chase, and inspired me with her inspiration for writing. I loved this book and this author - I will definitely be going back to read the earlier books in this series!
