Interesting to learn more about the candidate and I’m sorry that he has had some very serious personal tragedies. But in terms of the reading experience...it was not a page-turner. It also felt very removed - I didn’t feel his personal voice coming through in it.

To my dearest voters, here's why I didn't run for president and left you with.. him. Please don't let this ruin my reputation as a politician. I like to do politics.

Amazing man! The world needs more Joe Biden! Love his strength, sensitivity and drive to make the world a better place.

Listening to Joe Biden's narration made this even more moving. Keep tissues close by.

A really lovely little book about coping with loss. Joe Biden gives valuable life lessons on how to mourn. Not what I thought it was going to be, but I'm so glad I read it.

The book is beautiful. And after reading it becomes even harder to not like Joe Biden. His recounting of days when Beau Biden was diagnosed with cancer is so emotional and heartfelt. And being a resident of Delaware and from the same university as his alma mater, it feels even more relatable when he mentions some of the incidences.
When it comes to politics of things which were going on during that time and certain things which Obama administration did, like anyone else, of course he had his own prejudice to comply to and feels like his administration could do no wrong, whether it was in regard to foreign or domestic policy. But then that is not what the book was about, even if discussion of politics did take a great part of it. More than what I liked.

Overall it is a beautiful book, if sad!

I don't usually read books by Politicians because I usually find them to be very self-serving. I was intrigued by this one though because it was based on the relationship between Biden and his son who passed away. I also needed an audio book for a road trip. I really enjoyed the book. The strength and process of decision making of the Biden family is amazing. There were some politics in the book. Biden's went into detail on some of the choices he made as Vice President. It was really interesting to head how those decisions were made. The book was primary about the relationship with his son though. It was hard to hear at times but beautifully written. I have to say my esteem for Biden has grown as a result of reading this book.

Joe Biden’s book sounds just like him - sincere, empathetic, smart. A very moving account of the loss of Beau Biden, but also included inside looks at work done by Vice President Biden during this time. Really enjoyed this book and may even read it again.

I don't usually read books by candidates. I prefer to read books at the end of their career talking about what they've learned. In book, Biden shares some very tender and personal moments. I loved learning about his relationships with his family and especially the bond between his two sons. I think all those things speak to his character as a father and as a human. When I picked up this book, that's what I thought (based on the title) it would be solely about. It was also about everything Biden did over the course of that year. Lots of name dropping, political experience, etc. That part tired me, but I think it's because I don't read this type of book often. I do leave it feeling like I know more about Joe Biden as a person and a human being, but also disappointed and feeling that the title was a little misleading.
