I have put this one off for a long time mostly because I wanted to go in with appropriate expectations lol. I liked it! I’m finding that I’m a real big fan of urban fantasy and this was no exception. I loved the idea of warring clans and found the whole premise to be entertaining. However, I did feel as thought I could use more info on the how of it all. I also and crossing my fingers for more from any of the female characters. This was a bit alpha male-ish for me and I definitely struggled with that lol. I have heard that the story gets better with each book, so I do plan to continue the story!

this was similar to watching a movie revolving around a organized crime syndicate. it was that exciting, fun, and happening. it was very fast-paced like a screenplay of sorts and i loved every bit of it. at times, it did feel restricting and a bit tedious, but the characters are so exhilarating and complex, you want to continue the book and the entire series.

I really enjoyed reading this book. I feel like maybe it could’ve been more fast paced, but on the other hand maybe I wouldn’t have empathized with the characters as much without the current pacing. This book I had to put down multiple times but I think it’s because the characters felt so real I had to take a break when things turned to shit.

A pretty decent book. In the beginning it was a bit confusing bc it’s introducing you to so many characters with names that’s hard to distinguish who is who. But after a while of reading you become familiarized with everyone. I gave it 3 stars bc although I liked the book and the writing was good I wasn’t really invested in the story. Nothing to do with the book itself I just think this isn’t the type of book I’d enjoy reading. I also wasn’t too attached to any of the characters. I think bc there was so many of them and not many characters going too much in debt I wasn’t really able to establish any kind of connection with anyone and that makes it less enjoyable read to me. But overall solid read. I’d definitely recommend to someone if this is the genre that they like to read.

A perfect mix between the mafia and martial arts genres, an interesting world and cool magic based on drugs that just makes too much sense in a urban setting
