Mildly amusing; a mixed bag of laugh-out-loud, plain weird, not-so-funny, cringe worthy and appalling moments. I cannot imagine how incredibly bizarre it must be to work in a bookshop in this day and age. The incredible things that people come up with in this book make you realise that it truly is a blessing to be part of Team Bookworm.

Definitely worth the read!

What an absolutely hilarious book!

My favourite parts where from Ripping Yarns - mostly the replies to the customers! People who work in bookshops definitely have a great sense of humour!

This little book is a sure fire hit for any reading fan. Although I use the Kindle now, I spent many years of my youth in book shops and I have heard some really hilarious questions so it's great to see a pile of them put together in a really great collection.

This is a quick read that I can see myself dipping into again and again!

This is more like a coffee table kind of book. A collection of funny or questionable things people say or ask when they are in bookstores as compiled by bookstore employees from all over. Reminds me of a few 911 calls...

'Weird Things Customers Say in Bookshops' by Jenn Campbell is a non-fiction book compiled of conversations booksellers have had with customers. It is accompanied with illustrations by Brothers McLeod which show the absurdity of the questions customers ask.
The book is divided into three sections: Tales from the Edinburgh Bookshop, Tales From Ripping Yarns, and Weird Things Customers Say in Other Bookshops. Each section is compiled of weird conversations booksellers have had with customers.
It was sad and worrying to read about the large number of ignorant questions customers ask booksellers.
I thought the illustrations were cute, funny and imaginative. They showed just how crazy some of the questions customers ask are.
I used to think working in a bookshop would be a relaxing job and there would be plenty of time to read. After reading this book, I realise I was mistaken.
It was a short light read. It was entertaining and it flowed quickly.
I recommend this book for anyone who wants to read a short humorous book.

Some of the little quotes (situations) in this book were really funny and it started off strong but as it went on, I thought some of the quotes were really pretty angry, insulting or mean. I get that some dim witted people come into bookstores...those same people go into pretty much every business and they are easy to mock...but honestly, I think the assumption that it is just funnier that they are in a book store is pretty nasty. I also understand the bitterness of independent bookstores providing services to people who then shop for discounts on line...but I didn't really enjoy reading that anger here in what I hoped would be light, clever and funny.
