4.5 Really enjoyed #2....It was even better than #1. Great characters and suspense.
In my opinion this book is better than the first one (“One of us is lying”) as it is deffinitely not as predictable and it has more of everything.
You can tell that the plot has been thought out way more carefully, the mistery is more intense and there’s a hint of romance between two of the characters that is portrayed way better than the romantic scenes from the first book. The author had managed to bring back some old characters without making it boring or repetitve, showing that the most of them have moved on with their lives and nothing about what happened in the first book has been holding them back.
I really liked this one.

Truth or Dare? A new game has started at Bayview High and the stakes are up again for three students. The story takes place after the events of the Bayview Four ( and yes we do get glimpses of our four favorite troublemakers in this book). This one follows Maeve (Bronwyn’s younger sister who is recovering from her Leukemia and just wants to figure out what to do now since she wasn’t expecting to even make it out of high school alive), Phoebe a girl who likes to casually date and just relax but when one of her dark secrets is released her life is upended, and Knox (Maeve’s ex turned best friend who is the perpetual nice guy) who just wants to be defined as something more than just the “nice guy”. When a new game begins asking students at Bayview to play truth or dare things start to get out of hand when it starts to target Phoebe, Maeve, and Knox... and when a dead body shows up they’ll have to come together and figure out who is behind this new game before it’s too late. This one lacked the stacks and friendship of the first book but it was still a fun read! I did love getting to know more about Maeve and getting to see where the Addie, Cooper, Nate and Bronwyn have gone since graduating high school. It was a nice continuation of the story and I definitely can’t wait for the third book!
the mystery way more interesting than the first one, and the romantic subplots didn't bother be as much. it became a bit convoluted at the end though, probably because there were lots of characters involved in just a few chapters. suffers a little from middle book syndrome at the end, with the cliffhanger and some characters relationships left to be dealt with in a future book.
definitely excited to read the third one!!
definitely excited to read the third one!!
3.5⭐️ I liked it but also wanted to read as fast as i could so i could start another book
One of us is next is the sequel to one of us is lying by Karen M. McManus. In the last book though i loved the relatableness of the characters. I did not relate to any of them. But in this book I really connected to the character Phoebe. The book keeps you hooked on it for the whole story. I finished it in one sitting. Though I would love to see a part 3 for the one of us is lying series. It is still nice to play a game of guessing on figuring out what happens next to the characters. I also love that in this book since it focuses on Meave they tell us more about her time as a recovering cancer patient which is really wonderful. And all in all the book is a five star. beautiful plot and wonderful execution of the story line and it lives up to the high standards it's predecessor, one of us is lying has set for it
I was super excited to start this book, since I loved the first one. However, this dropped the ball big time and left me disappointed. Once you realize who the new “bad guy” is and their connection to the characters, you realize it just doesn’t make that much sense and you’re left feeling disappointed.
