This might actually be my favorite Kiersten Modglin book that I’ve read so far. I loved how the beginning kind of felt like a weird fever dream. You go into the book knowing that something bad has happened to our main character but you have no idea what until tiny details keep getting revealed little by little. I also enjoyed the ending of the book and it didn’t feel as rushed to me as a lot of thrillers are these days.

Jaicey is a 15 year old girl who suffered a traumatic event, the only problem is - she can't remember what happened, when, or why. Feeling like a complete outcast not only in school but in her own home, she finds refuge with Brayden, a new transfer to her school. The closer she gets to Brayden, the more secrets she unfolds and the more her memory starts to come back to her. Jaicey doesn't know who to trust but knows that there is someone out there who is out to get her.
I LOVE me some Kiersten Modglin. That being said, this was not one of my favorites. More often than not Modglin has me shook at each book ending, but I found this one to to be a little predictable and didn't really connect with the characters or the storyline. All that to say, I stan Kiersten Modglin and think that everyone should read her books. As I'm working my way through her catalogue, this one won't be at the top of the list as far as favorites go.

I didn't like this book very much. The name of the book isn't fitting. I read that the name was changed, I feel like the old name is better. Not sure why it was changed. Jaicey was a really hard character to like. We didn't know anything about her until almost the end, which is hard to deal with for the main character. And I hated Braiden the moment he entered the story. The story line was great and the ideas were great but they were not greatly executed. I feel like it was a very short read and we could have gotten a much better story line had Keirsten doubled the pages. In the beginning, I was so confused... so much that I almost didn't want to finish reading it. I think that was the idea, was for us to be confused and know nothing just like Jaicey but it didn't work well for this book. I dont know, this book had great potential but I don't feel like it was met at all. It wasn't an awful book, it just felt very amateur. I still love Kierstens writing and I am going to dive into the next book of hers that I have.

Quick Summary: A YA thriller
My Review: The Missing Piece by Kiersten Modglin was an incredible read. It started with the middle at the beginning and ramped up the further along it went. I cannot even clearly express how much this book captivated me.
About the Book: After experiencing an extremely traumatic event, a young high schooler returns to her life. Upon her return, she soon realizes that something is amiss. Everything she thought she knew about herself, her family, her friends, and her new relationship is not as it would seem. Can she get to the bottom of what's really going on before it's too late?
My Final Say: This book was packed to bursting with dark action, suspense, and drama. There were red flags and warning signs everywhere. It was emotionally intense and utterly heartbreaking. If I say anymore, it would give too much away.
Narration: The narrator did a superb job. The tone, the pacing, and the character rhythms were totally on point. I was enthralled.
Other: There were several triggers associated with this book. Readers should be sure to check out any author's notes.

my least favorite Kiersten Modglin book so far. Everything about this was just so … stupid. I felt like it was written by a 13 year old
mysterious
medium-paced
As I’m listening to this, I know I am missing something (he he play on the name here) and I am running through everything I can think of to figure out the missing piece.
While Jaicey is young, this one didn’t scream I’m a kid like some YA books do. I liked her and kept wanting to scream warnings at her as I started to figure things out.
This one was quick and entertaining. It was fast paced and kept my attention. Tara Sands did a good job at the narration and along with the story kept me wanting more.
