This was a really fun read. I already was a little familiar with Baxendale's stuff going into it and was happy to see that this held up well to the standards set for me by [b:Doctor Who: Something Inside|1205249|Doctor Who Something Inside|Trevor Baxendale|https://i.gr-assets.com/images/S/compressed.photo.goodreads.com/books/1327503104l/1205249._SX50_.jpg|1193577]. The plot was good, and the references to the show - especially the Hartnell era - made me happy.

It wasn't like Evil of the Daleks or Fear of the Daleks(those are really truly original, creative Dalek stories) but it wasn't like some of the episodes where I'm just bored to death of the Daleks. Like, they WERE scary, Baxendale DID write them well, just not in a new way. Also, his writing, while good for inducing tension and fright, relies pretty heavily on gimmicks to characterize people, which cheapened that side of it a little bit.

Overall good though! I like seeing 10 here after losing Donna and how that effected him/his decision-making.

Really good Tenth Doctor book! Made me miss David Tennant as the Doctor.

I never really understood why the Daleks were seen as such a scary alien race.
Okay, they live to 'exterminate' all other life, and deep inside their armour they look hideous. But if you show them to someone who doesn't know Doctor Who, they will laugh...

This book gave me a whole new look at the Daleks. It showed me how scary and brutal the alien race can be...
description

Just like all the other stories, you expect the Doctor to find a new companion at the start. But what if you're wrong? What if every potential companion gets killed in the most horrific way possible?
It makes you mad. So you start getting in a loop:

Step 1: He/she is the new companion. It's so obvious! Just look at the way they interact with each other...
Step 2: What the hell? Why would the writer do such a thing to him/her? He/she was perfect as a companion! F***ing hell!
Step 3: He/she is the new companion. It's...

The story features the crew of a spaceship. Suprisingly, the writer succeeds in showing us enough character development throughout the book. Which makes you care for them as much as you care about the Doctor.
It's action-packed, with a lot of moments you want to yell at the characters like: 'Don't do that, you stupid idiot! You know how it will end!'

This is for me the best Doctor Who novel published as to date. It's even hard to say, but there aren't a lot of episodes that reach the level of this story.

La verdad no podía pedir más de un libro de Doctor Who con los Daleks. Es entretenido y bien escrito y se lee como un episodio de la serie, una excelente historia si te quieres entretener.

This was a fun book to read, but quite dark too. But I loved all the characters (even the Daleks!) and I'd love to read more from Baxendale.

Quick read, was done in a day with it. Loved it, really felt like David Tennant's portrayal of The Doctor! Highly recommended for Whovians.
