This story reminded me of Nanny McPhee. Your internal Life as a real person. Such a fun and interesting concept. Yet another wonderful adult fairy tale from Ahern.

It could have used a little bit of tightening up. A few hanging threads or oddly introduced plot points.

To be truthful, it's so.. inspiring

And the award for the most annoying and frustrating character I've read about this year so far goes to ... Lucy Silchester, the main character in this novel. I just absolutely couldn't stand her. The Time of My Life is basically just a book about Lucy lying to everyone in her life and completely ruining her life by continuously lying about everything even when people find out she's lied and confront her with it. Furthermore, the fact that her life - in human form - begins following her everywhere at some point and exposes her whenever she tells another lie was extremely weird and didn't make this book any better. It made me cringe so much and often made me just want to throw the novel at a wall. Due to this, I decided to switch to the audiobook after the first quarter of The Time of My Life which definitely made it a lot easier to finish the book.

So overall, I unfortunately just didn't enjoy The Time of My Life. The last couple of chapters were actually a lot better than the rest of the novel but that couldn't really save it anymore in my opinion. This is now the second book I've read by Cecelia Ahern - the first one was a one-star read for me - and I think it's also been the last one. I just don't think her stories are for me and I would rather spend my time reading other authors' works.

I love Cecelia Ahern’s touch of mysteriousness in all of her novels. It’s just enough to not feel like it’s completely impossible. Same is true for The Time of My Life”...if I really concentrate, I can actually feel Life knocking on my door! Makes you think about the way you live and how it affects others.

One Cecilia's best books. It is so easy to read and there is so much to think about after reading this amazing book. Love it

When I first started reading this book, I got annoyed real quick. Making a scenario and ending with, "okay, i lied" was so repetitive. At first I laughed at it, but after 4/5 times I was done! Jokes were getting old and reused and it was getting boring. Just few chapters in, and I was ready to give up. But since I'm a huge fan of the author, I gave this book the benefit of doubt.
100 pages in and, I was hating this book so much. I was ready to call out the author telling her, this is the worst book she ever written. But after few more pages, around 180 it becomes so good! Like freakishly good! I couldn't stop grinning. Hands down this book has one of the cutest meet-cutes ever! I just couldn't put the book down. It took me almost 5 days to read first 150 pages but took only a day to finish rest of the 240 pages!
This book is witty, funny, the dialogues are so fricking good! The chemistry between Lucy, Life and Don is amazing! But most importantly I love the whole theme of this book. It's unique and lovely to read. It made me imagine what it would be like to meet my life face to face.
It's like one of those books that makes you to re-evaluate your self, your life and your decision but in happy way. How your lies will caught up with you, like sticky slimy web and the only way to set yourself free is by cutting down all the lies with the truth.
I really liked this book, it made me laugh. My only complain is, the build up is super slow and boring at the beginning. But it somehow redeemed itself in the later parts. Even though, it wasn't the best work of Cecilia but certainly it wasn't the worst.

Oh, Lucy. Life has a way of taking notice when you’re just sleep-walking through it, shutting yourself off from your family and friends. And life doesn’t take too kindly to your ignoring its prompts to sit back and take stock…

Cecelia Ahern’s latest offering is a poignant tale of a girl who gives up – barely going through the motions with her family and friends, coasting at her job, TV-stalking her ex-boyfriend – because she told one lie almost three years ago. One lie that snowballed into life-altering events and spawned countless half-truths. One lie that she cannot bring herself to un-tell, or to clear the air about. One lie that brought her to this here and now: turning thirty, hiding behind sarcasm, living like a hermit in a hovel…

I thoroughly enjoyed The Time of My Life. Lucy Silchester is a nice, normal girl who’s made a few bad decisions for the wrong reasons. And even the “bad” isn’t truly bad at all. But she’s caught up in a web of her own weaving, and try as she might (which isn’t very hard at all) she can’t untangle herself. And instead of packing it all up and moving to a new town so she doesn’t have to live with the consequences of that one lie, she puts it all inside and walks out whenever the conversation’s getting too difficult to sit through. Not a way to live, at all.

When life calls, Lucy ignores it. But eventually she caves in and meets him – yes, her life’s a him – and life tells Lucy she has to start telling the truth. Or he will. He makes Lucy confront her fears, reclaim her voice, and in doing so, take charge of her life.

I love how Ahern’s books always have a point. The Time of My Life tells us to not take everything for granted, that friends can – and do – stand by us when we need them to, that family is never perfect but they’re usually the ones who love us first, that a broken heart can mend, that life is meant to be lived, not lived through. It also tells us never to be afraid to be ourselves, because we can only live our best lives when we’re true to our own self. This one won’t use up the box of tissues like P.S. I Love You did, but tugs at the heartstrings nonetheless. Pick it up and get started on your summer reading early!

Hauska kirja, jonka lukemisesta nautin paljon. Kirjan idea oli mielenkiintoinen ja se kantoi loppuun asti.
