This was super dark and I loved it. Even though the misogynistic language sometimes made me cringe, it suited the characters perfectly. The sex slave cult was a bit over the top and definitely disturbing, but seeing the atrocities that Mae had endured made her character arc all the stronger.

In the real world I would hope Mae would get therapy and not trade one horrific cult for a cult of another type (which let’s be real, gangs and MCs basically are like cults). But in fiction, I just ate up Styx and Mae’s fated relationship. I know this series is controversial, but I plan to read through it to make my own assessment. So far, book one starts really strong to me.

Also the audiobook narrators were phenomenal, perfectly capturing the unique accents and cadence of the characters. I’ve downloaded PDF files of the following books to read on my kindle, but I might just continue with the audiobooks if they’re as well performed as this one.

the story and premise were a 10/10 for me, but the execution of it/actual writing were a 5 or 6/10.

I don’t like saying this, but this is one of the worst books I have ever read in my life. Truly horrendous. I’m so sorry to the author, I hope she never reads reviews like this. She did way too much and at the same time so little it was almost laughable.
Check trigger warnings (I’m gonna add “cult” as one here as well)

Take all those trigger warnings, and imagine a book that pretends like a super sexy man, who can barely communicate without getting extremely angry, solves all of the heroines trauma and past. With sex. Hmm. I just don’t buy it at all

This was my first MC type book and I can't say I'm excited for anymore. Huge plead for people to check out TWs. They were intense.

I enjoyed Mae's discovery of the world and her coming to terms with everything she has been through. I think Rider and Mae really helped each other in ways no one else around them could.

I couldn't get into Styx and Mae's love story. He didn't understand her in the slightest and she's been so traumatized the first sign of kindness sticks with her. If I'm being honest neither of them tried to understand the other.

The language throughout the book was a huge no for me. I didn't appreciate how the men talked about or treated the women- even calling the women they loved 'bitches'. Maybe this is a normal thing in MC style books but it definitely didn't work for me.

Overall I don't think this book was for me.

I’ve seen this book recommended EVERYWHERE for years but never got the chance to read it until now and I’m so glad I finally did!

MC romances aren’t usually my jam, but I’m in love with the Hades Hangmen 😍 I’ve been obsessed with cults for forever (favorite type of true crime!) so I loved the mix of The Order and The Hangmen.

Seeing Mae and Styx’s relationship develop was beautifully imperfect at times. They were destined to be together, but had to fight and claw for it each step of the way. The angst makes it that much sweeter ❤️

The spice in this book was delicious 🔥 I can’t wait to see how the next few books go cause I have a feeling there is going to be some kink coming up soon 😈
